what kind of drum machine does he use on the batman album?
i've always liked those drumsounds but they don't sound a lot like the linn drum to me. so is it a different one?
it wouldn't make him sound modern, as the o.p. asked but i'm just curious

Do you really think certain tools make one sound "modern", regardless of how it's used?

They tend to push you very strongly in that direction.
At this point I think the best choice for Prince is just to use an acoustic drum kit and throw in the occasional electronic percussion sound in the mix (like on TRC).

The drum machine he should use is Michael B. RIP

More cowbell. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

I loved that loud ass customized lm-1 kick/snare combo he used back in the late 80's.
Ex. "Time Waits for No One", "Theives in the Temple", "Partyman", "4 Lust", "Electric Chair", etc.

None of those new drum machines. The sound of them is the reason that I absolutely hate today's music and the last thing Prince needs is a "modern" sound. Hell, I wish the other artists would drop it also so we can get back to jamming again. Andy is a four letter word.

The Linn sounds great but they need real drums behind them also to give the songs power. That's the difference between the "1999" album and the "MPLShit" album. Andy is a four letter word.

That's the difference between the "1999" album and the "MPLShit" album. i love the combination of linn with acoustic drums but live drums are not exclusive for a powerful drum sound.of course nothing can replace the dynamics of a real drummer playing but there are many songs that sound great with drum machine.when Doves Cry,777-9311. Reason why Mplssound drums are lacking is because it was done with a softwere instead of a real thing and paterns are as you woulds like to say shit hop influenced
