With all its imperfections the ONA era (TRC, ONA, NEWS, C-Note, Xpectation) is the only one I can somewhat appreciate. The rest tends to be forgettable rehash I don't feel the need to listen to ever again.

Man i slept on the LotsFlow3r album, this is maybe Prince's best guitar record. The song "$" is my favourite i think, such a fun song and has a real Parade/SOTT era feel to it, was it dug out of the Vault? anyone know?

Funnily enough, in some ways it's his most intriguing and diverse decade, if not most consistent.

In the 80s he was aiming to reach superstardom and then maintain it. There were twists but not REAL experimentation.

In the 90s he was trying to regain that superstardom leading to inconsistenct with glimpses of brilliance amongst smatterings of dross.

In the 00s, he had relinquished the superstar dream (to acertain extent, always hoping it would return) and aiming more for "artistic" recognition. This led to unevenness and some wanky pretention but also, let's face it, display of the freedom he'd been talking about.

Most of the 00s output would probably have been b-sides or protege material in the 80s, but, hey, isn't that the stuff that we hard-cores are supposed to prefer???
