What Did Prince Play on Exodus? This question is bugging the shit out of me lol. I really want to know this so I can fully appreciate the album. I looked at Princevault and it seems other people played most of the instruments... kinda bummed me out cuz I thought P did them (nice bass, just wish P did them...)
Either way though, I like the album alot haha. Purple Music is my drug and I'm jonesin!!!!!

The information provided by princevault is the next best thing to asking prince personally. The information is not just thrown together willy nilly, it is carefully researched and checked. All you will get on this thread is guesswork.

I always assumed Prince played bass and guitar on Exodus, but that's mainly because he played one of the two in the performances of the songs. Plus, it's eluded to in the Return of the Bump Squad: "Some fool in a red mask totin' a one-eyed bass..." Also, the guitar on "The Exodus Has Begun" just has his sound. Of course, like TheDigitalGardner pointed out, I'm just guessing.

You can bet your boots Prince's input was substantial, even if he left the playing of some instruments to the NPG.
I always think of this album as one of the most collaborative efforts in his canon. The CD sleeve credits certainly back that up.
Mike Scott is the only other person listed as playing guitar (and that's only on Cherry Cherry) so you can correctly assume that Prince plays all other guitar on Exodus IMO. Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

If you like it, why did it matter if Prince played or not?
I fully appreciate Exodus . [Edited 7/12/12 4:25am] RIP
