So...I was at the wrecka stow the other day Okay, it was a cool store in the mall that sold CDs and DVDs, not records...I know, I looked out of curiosity. They had tons of material and I was looking for the Prince area without much luck. Under a shelf labeled new arrivals I saw P's face & turned to look and it was the Musicology album. I just snatched it up, it was used though so it was at a pretty low price.
After that I found Prince's stuff, and now I know where to go to start my collection.
But anyway I couldn't afford any of that stuff cause I already spent nearly all my money beforehand. I totally loved the entire look of the album, the design was really cool and the album although it was like a paper copy was in good condition. The booklet was perfect too.
Once I looked at the CD inside though I realized how hard I got played. I guess some fan wanted a quick buck and sold off the album sleeve but kept the actually copy of the CD and put some raggedy crap inside instead or some underground group was desperate for some kind of discovery. Yup, someone put the wrong CD inside. It's some crap called MCA. I first noticed it when I was looking at the track listing on the back of the album and at the actual phony CD. At first I kind of thought that maybe when Prince released the album & copies were manufactured he had a completely random CD put inside as some kind of joke or something but the real songs were still there.
No. It's just the wrong CD, and of course I was annoyed about it & more annoyed over the fact that whoever it was who bought the album from the original owner was too damn lazy to actually check and make sure the material was right before they put it out in the store.
I guess I'm equally stupid for buying a used CD anyway lol, next time I go there I'll know better. I'm not really mad about it, it's actually kind of funny. Has anyone else been ripped off like this before? It happens to all of us man. This one time I dropped 70 bucks on just Prince at the wrecka stow. I bought Graffiti Bridge, Come, Batman, Diamonds and Pearls, 3121, Musicology, and Love Symbol on CD as well as Purple Rain, ATWIAD 1999 and Parade on vinyl. When I got home, Love Symbol didnt work till I cleaned it, 1999 skipped on Lady Cab Driver and Automatic, Parade skipped on I Wonder U and looped on Sometimes It Snows In April. I got played bigtime by some sadistic Prince fan who sold his catalouge to the place. I guess the years of internet purging, Tony M, and not playing his vulgar songs finally made him snap and wanna get even somehow... Sucks for me Purple is the color of my heart,

Here in the Uk a serious Prince/ associates collector would often have to buy the more expensive vinyl imports - I bought Sheila E's Hold Me 12'. Got it home and the b side (The World is high) kept skipping
Another time I bought Mazarati LP, hot day, got it home after traveling public transport for 45 minutes only to find the sun had warped the record and no more than 2 tracks would play half decent - gutted as it had been ordered in for me specifically and had cost a small fortune for a student as was at the time
Shit happens | |

Oh my gosh if I were you and that happened I probably would have cried. And then I would have raged back into that store like I had come straight out of hell. Skipping on Automatic & Lady Cab Driver? Totally unacceptable. But seriously stores who buy used materials should make it mandatory the check the material and make sure it works BEFORE they make it available to potential customers, I mean really.

^ Yeah sucked real bad - can you imagine how hyped i was - travelled 15 miles by ferry, got it backed and it barely played - can't remember how much it cost but couldn't have been cheap

Thw worst part is the case for Lovesymbol and the jacket for Parade had what looked like damage from a SAWBLADE on it. This guy reallu hated those albums I guess. I didnt notice them in the store because the albums were wrapled but damn... He damaged two of my favorite album! And to get such a patchy Mazarati release is horrible! Songs like Suzi and 100 MPH deserve better than to be rendered unplayable. Thats why I prefer CD's over vinyl. Vinyl might sound better and all, but if it isn't usable or easy to get, why bother? Bitter much? lol Maybe the fan had a bad encounter with Prince or something. I'm sorry, I can't stop laughing at the image of some enraged fan getting out their record collection and going all Michael Myers on it. ~ You're a desire, I get higher every time I speak your name ~

[/quote]Haha, maybe Prince is making that weird face on thw cover of parade because the owner of that record scared him by going all Michael Myers on it. Purple is the color of my heart,

When I was a kid, I was on a school trip and we stopped off at a gas station where there was a bin of used CD's and tapes. I had a cassette Walkman at the time and I spied a tape of Janet's "Control" album in the bin.
I got back on the coach and opened it up 10 minutes later and the wrong tape was inside
I was so upset. |
