He doesn't write about rape as in the bad & sick sense, but about the wanting someone so much. Haven't any of you wanted someone so much you could just rip their clothes off right then and there?
I think many females would love to have prince want them this much.
(again, not in the bad & sick sense, because Prince isn't that kinda guy) Peace in the House of Prince.

I motion that we in the fan community refer to this song in the abbreviated form "LUST" If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

Laughing my ass off that some of you are taking offense to the lyrics. This stuff is classic Prince. Funny, strange, titilating & confusing. I love it!!

Love the New Wave sound! And Vicky Waiting has an interesting mix. I love it when this stuff gets out!! Now somebody PLEASE LEAK THE 12 INCH VERSION OF BALLAD OF DOROTHY PARKER!! I can't take it anymore!! ~And even when I'm right, I'll be wrong...it's Automatic too.

EXACTLY! I was thinking the same thing. Please people don't act as if you haven't had those lustful thoughts...lol. Or if you did not know what he meant.
It's that feeling when you want to 'Rip thier clothes off'...It's an extreme example of what he meant, but he is using the most example of lust. Nothing in the bad sense...
It's like saying "I can eat a horse" of course that is not really a congruent example in all respects; but when somebody wants something or feels something bad they often use something very negative or ugly to help them explain...we all know..
Thanks for clarifying it again! [Edited 6/25/12 14:05pm] It's Button Therapy, Baby!

I see your point, I'll replace those choices with Horny Toad, andsomething else that came out in 83. Still a good jam and I'm not too disturbed by the rape lyric, I've heard far worse. Jeux Sans Frontiers

Don't try to relate or even put some logic into this shit. This is the same man who wrote "Sister",,,,,,,,,"SISTER!"

I agree. The rape lyric shouldn't be taken seriously.Back in those days,Prince was all about controversy and shock tactics.Just like the song "Sister"......we all know that was pure fiction.
No need for you ladies to get offended Prince wasn't gonna rape anybody.

Love this track, just got it off a friend, sounds like an earlier mix of the groove from Automatic. But judging by the Linn and the sexual lyrics its definetly 1982, closer to the sound of 1999, than Controversy. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

VW = Epic, interesting twists & turns and the chicken grease guitar in the first few mins is excellent, loses it's way a little at the end though. Guitar work is great throughout IMHO.
Lust u..' = sounds like a 'rebels' / controversy track - great to have & add to the collection, would have sounded great on the Controversy album. The 'rape' lyric shows a huge amount of immaturity and insensitivity - let's blame the follly of youth. I guess the same can be said for Lady cab driver.

Didn't Prince offer "Lust U Always" to Robert Palmer, sometime in the late 80s? I coulda sworn that I read that somewhere.

Actually, it's not. The first link to download that I found was an .exe. The second one I found was a .rar, which was clean. These were both on the same site.
There is a threat out there.
I ALWAYS check the file before downloading. "He's a musician's musician..."

No, I don't look at people and say, "Oh, if you don't want me I just might have to rape you." On the other hand, that thought probably occurs to many rapists (the bad ones). Well, I love it. I can see why it was left off 1999 - its far too direct and blunt and doesn't fit the mature vibe of the album. But the song itself is killer and definitely going to be in high rotation for me. I place this right next to tracks like Extraloveable, 1999, Delirious, Let's Pretend We're Married, Turn It Up, All The Critics, etc... All of which I love.
