Girl 6 soundtrack= bliss This has to be one of the best compilations of Prince music around-- just as good if not better than the vault

I had only just gotten into Prince in August of 1996 and when I first heard Girl 6 the only songs I was familiar with were "Pink Cashmere," "Girls & Boys" and "Adore" (the edited version from The Hits 1), for me it was almost like an entirely new album. Of course I eventually did acquire the original albums that most of the songs had first appeared on and today there are only two songs exclusive to Girl 6. Still, for new fans it is a great release and it really shows how deep his catalogue is and that there is so much more to his music than the songs that receive heavy airplay on commercial radio.

okay I was a long time Prince fan when this was released,
I bought it, but did not listen much to it since I had most of the songs already.
But:
I remember the (new) song "Girl 6" was on repeat a couple of days though.. Prince 4Ever.

I loved it becasue all the older songs seemed like they were remastered. "Climb in my fur."

Yes they seemed a lot cleaner sounding.

After 5 years of being a hardcore fan, these songs were still relatively "new" to me back then (even though I knew them all by heart already), enough for me to listen to the OST as a whole for a few months. It was a fresh choice of songs. I should download it, I haven't listened to it as a whole for a decade. Worth the purchase for She Spoke 2 Me alone, and Girl 6 is interesting too.
The actual movie has a lot more Prince songs (I'd say easily double if not triple of what's on the album).

Totally agree. Don't Talk to Strangers socked me in the gut on first listen.

Speaking of the movie, time for a re-release. The DVD is out of print and it has yet to be released on Blu. I need to replace my VHS dub. Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

For me it was just an "eh" release. Most the songs were resissues except for the AMAZING Pink Cashmere!!!
She Spoke 2 Me & Dont Talk 2 Strangers seemed like P on uninspired auto-pilot...
kinda like now quite frankly The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

I loved the new songs, except for the title track, which sounded like so much filler to me (and wasn't that one largely a Tommy Barbarella production? I forget...).
But the greatest draw for me is those catalogue tracks... they sound so good, they just make me cry for remasters!

I watched the movie this morning just to listen to the music. Sad this soundtrack is not on Itunes. I love the song Screams of Passion by The Family.

"Pink Cashmere" had been released in 1993 on The Hits 1.

"She Spoke 2 Me" was very different from most of the music Prince had released before.

Dont Talk to Strangers seems like a cousin to Sweet Baby
