Scandalous Sex Suite!!!! Wow!!!

This thing is brilliant, one of his best sex ballads of all time, up there with Do Me Baby and Insatiable. I am talking about the extended single, the Scandalous sex suite. The falsetto is impeccable, guitar solos, the sexy sax and Kim Basinger's moaning and Prince's chat. This is some creamy shit. You need a shower after hearing this. The guitar solo in the Rapture. I mean wow, its cream on wax.

This was the recording too, where they had to scrape honey off the console the next day.

The songs Sex (No comment) is great too, a tight boppy number and having When 2 R in love just adds more cream although you are worn out by the time it comes on.

Who else loves this sexy ass shit. If you only ever own one CD single of Prince, this is the one to have that cover with the red suit and his pose.

It comes up in every thread about the suite, so here it is: The guitar solo is originally from 'Dear Michaelangelo', on Sheila E's 'Romance 1600' LP.

It's great, I love the guitar solo. The Japanese version is a good one to find. It has a load of cool Partyman remixes included.

Sex is one of the best "b-sides" of that period.

It's good, but too monotonous.

His voice makes up for it.

Sex was one of the things that convinced me that Stevie Wonder's Talking Book was a constant inspiration that Prince drew from. Greatly underrated b-side.

It's one beautiful solo nonetheless!

It's pretty cool, how he slowed it down for this release if he did slow it down. QUESTION, though? Did he play it for this selection? Or did he just take the original one and slow it down?? Would you know?

Scandalous Sex Suite is my favorite thing!

It's the main thing!

I have said it once and will say it again. 'Scandalous' is my favorite ballad from Prince. It out beats Insatiable, Adore, and Do Me Baby, or any other song people look at as 'Sexy'. LOL

For me it's just a trip! LOL

It's Button Therapy, Baby!

I used to have a t-shirt with the cover of this on it.... sadly I'm a bit bigger these days and it no longer fits :/

The Japanese version is a must-have for the Partyman remixes. "The Rapture" is one of my favorite guitar solos by him (on record at least).

It's just slowed down.

to clarify: the guitar solo is based on the one from 'Dear Michaelangelo' but it's 100% re-recorded in the studio in 1989 for Scandalous Sexy Beast! (and he played it in time with the beat - so it's obviously slower!?)

?? Source? Always been referred to as lifted, not re-recorded AFAIK.

It's not really good much like the Batman album, sparse monotonous arrangement without being really special. Didn't he use the same monotonous synth line in a song on Musicology? ICPC?

Sorry for being so vague, but I really don't want to listen to these albums again. lol

Its good to see the love 4 it, but I can also understand if people find it too long, and he's essentially just having sex through it, so that may be cringeworthy for some. But me the fan who loves his steamy side, I will never tire of his falsetto and Kim Basinger's moaning on the track.

How did I not know that?

An all time favourite - love that solo - up there with Small Club JMI.

Shame it is so buried on the Sheila E track, so glad that it was pulled out for the SSS.

(Though, oddly, in my mental model of Prince-world, this solo was evidence that he hadn't completely shot his bolt post-Lovesexy (and pre-Gold Experience), so its somewhat disappointing to note it was lifted from something years earlier - though that cannot diminish its overall awesomeness.)
