If you could choose a Live Set for release? All up in the air type dream but Imagine
Prince has decided to release a Live Cd set and is asking for input from fans. The release will be soundboard but sourced soully from one nights of music.
The set will not be decided by vote but rather the reasoning of while it deserves to be released.
So heart felt stories about releases you would like to see.
So let me start then, in order to give you a flavour.
10 October 2002 Dublin
Although I was a member of the NPGMC I didn't get tickets for the soundcheck or front row seats...the reason been is that a friend had let me use their credit-card in order to become a member and I was very reluctant to return to him with the idea of using his card to buy these tickets....I know he'd have no problem but I wasn't comfortable asking....the same way I wasn't comfortable with having a credit-card (that view has changed, great job if managed properly)
So that means I missed the soundcheck which according to prince vault had this set list
Adore I Wanna be You Lover Condition Of tthe Heart Diamonds and Pearls The Beautiful Ones Nothing Compares 2 U All The Critics Love U In Dublin Pop Life Anna Stasia
Which in itself is a brilliant set......No wonder the NPGMC members I met there were looking so smug.
I arrived for the main showand was half down an aisle when Maceo Parker stopped beside me surrounded by sercurity.....I called out Maceo ala Prince .....He looked a little shocked, I hoped I didn't put him off his game, then he reached out and shook my hand as well as my wife's.
The show began with a Maceo solo from right beside me as he made his way to the stage. Magic.
I left the show buzzing, but as we left an aftershow was announced, my wife was happy to let me go to the aftershow but she was tired and was going home to our little daughter, our daughter was 10 months at this stage, I didn't even think twice and went home with her ...after my magic night in the Point, I wanted to be with my new family.
The aftershow was a cracker...supposedly The set list according to prince Vault
Joy in Repetition Instrumental Jam Love Bizarre All The Critics Love You In Dublin Prince and The Band Dolphin Calhoun Square Peach
Overall, a hell of a set of music.
None of the above sets incl. the main show has seen the light of day, not even a poor audience recording. But why I'd like to see it released is because the only things I can remeber from the main show is 1: Meeting Maceo Parker 2: the joy and magic I felt
Soon afterwards I had a very serious accident on a building site on which I was working. I fell a distance and landed on my head. Over time I've retaught myself to read and write ...but if any of you have got this far I sure you can see more room for improvment.
But my main problem was and remains memory!
Not quiet to the extent of Guy Pearce in Momento but not too far away, and the above concert is long gone and I would like it back.......I thought it very Ironic when I went to one of the O2 shows in London that the screens before the gig adviced us that this was "For Your Memories" when I knew I had none, but rather then it , it is the complete document of the ONA in Dublin I would like to see released including the sections I didn't see.
So anyone else with a show and story they would like to see released?

Not really a story but the two ONA concerts plus soundcheck I saw in Manchester never surfaced either and that's my favorite era. :-) if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron
