Prince! What is your MAIN Problem!

lol Come on Prince! Why won't you do a reunion with the Revolution? You know Bobby almost died right!? Come on. Just do it. Do Let's Go Crazy, Purple Rain, Girls and Boys, and America and then say goodnite and go on home. They are not mad at you. They still love you. sad

Can't see it ever happening coz he'd have to concede that his 80's work was the pinnacle of his creativity and that he is now a nostlgia act. there's an irony there, right?!

I'd be happy with a P and Revolution studio album of new collaborations tied in with a mini tour

Can't help but think that what we'll see is another year or so of W2 hits touring (that'll make 2007-2013 with symbol stage and hits heavy setlists with pretty much the same band)

Prince said himself in his email interview that he enjoys playing with the current line up so my hopes for a change up look unlikely.

The Revolution should just tour as they are and not be put off by Prince's position on this

He conceded that with the set lists on the W2A tour.

yeahthat Minus the dancer and I kind of like Mr. Blackwell, but I guess we could give him a break smile

I am sooooooooooooo over the Purple Rain era and definitely do not need a Prince and The Revolution tour (no Time/Family/V6/A6/ reunion either). I agree, that doing this type of tour would define/box him in as a nostalgia act and I don't think he could ever come back from that, and IMO he is so much more than PR (but like most artist, they will always be defined by the album that put them on the map, so I get why it would be hard to break away from it) but a Prince and Rev tour hmph!

Prince is already a nostalgia act. He had a residency in Vegas, ffs. His best selling albums these days are catalog albums. Almost the entirety of his setlists live are greatest hits.

Why not release stuff for the fans sake?
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Spin is right ( and it pains me to admit it) - I mean Prince being a nostalgia act, not that Spin's right lol

I guess I will have to be in the minority, cuz I don't view him as a nostalgia act, touring again as Prince and The Revolution would definitely solidify him as such. His 3121 Las Vegas Residency/Musicology tour/albums proved to me that he could be and was more than his 80's music, which is what brought me back into the Prince fold.

Could he announce a "Anything But the Greatest Hits" tour tomorrow and have it be a successful, imo Yes. To me touring with the Revolution would just reek of nostalgia/desperation/greed shrug, so I still say hmph!

i mean really he's been doing "the revolution" songs 4 years and still does them. what difference will it make if the revolution is the band? will the songs sound different? no.

dang it people lol , I refuse to concede that because he still plays his music from the 80's then he should be considered a nostalgic act. He has consistently released new music up until 2010 (some great, some not so great), so my mind won't even let me think about relegating him to nostalgic act status just because he peaked in the 80's sad

Oh well, either way, he is doing fine w/o the 84-86 band and hopefully they are doing fine w/o him

Prince(Madonna & U2) a nostalgic act shocked disbelief faint

Even people at Lady Gaga don't wanna hear her new stuff. You know they are waiting for "Just Dance", etc.

All artists that have been around for more than a few years face this problem. People show up at concerts , usually, to hear the artists most best known work.

Problematic for Prince is that, since Purple Rain, a good portion of people at his arena sized shows want to hear that material.

You think in 1988 90% attending the lovesexy tour were more anxious to hear "Eye No" or "Let's Go Crazy"?

Exactly...hell. Folks don't even want to bear deep cuts, bsides, or rarely played deep cuts unless they are die diehards...90% want the hits.

I think Prince mostly does it right.

Play THE big hits/crowd pleasers at the huge arena/festival sized shows.

Save the fan favorites for aftershows/clubs, theater sized venues ( One Nite Alone Tour), or Paisley Park. Win win.
