Dr. Funkenberry - 'Prince speaks through his music in UPCOMING rehearsal jam!'

Just posted from Dr. Funkenberry excited

Man! If you thought that “Dance Electric” PRINCE and the NPG rehearsal jam was dope…..JUST WAIT!!!!

Our ears have been blown by something just sent to us. We cannot wait to share it with you. It is hot, funky, dirty, and will leave you in puddle of sweat.

It shows he has been paying attention to your requests on what to play. Wow! Straight hotness.

BTW, that “Dance Electric” REHEARSAL JAM has over 2,500 likes and almost 500 comments, making it one of our most commented stories in the site’s short existence! Thank you PRINCE for allowing us to share it here first!!!

Terry Lewis of The Original 7ven aka The Time got the 1st copy of this rehearsal jam after inquiring if PRINCE needed an opening act for Australia.

Terry got his answer through song. P always speaks through music. Its the language all of us understand.

What was the message? Hear it loud and clear next week on DRFUNKENBERRY.COM!!!!!

It’s going to be so worth it! -DocFB

VERY exciting.

Can't believe we have to wait until next week.

Other potential pieces of the puzzle:

Fdeluxe's latest status update - https://www.facebook.com/fdeluxe

"Another email from Prince - he has asked us to share his musical present he gave to us the other day.

We have been asked to wait for a minute - but we will bring it when the word is given.

Y'all know he is on is way to Australia, right?
Who do you want to open for him??"

Comment by Neil Richards on the official tour Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/...5542461304

"Weirdly Fdeluxe (who were put together by Prince and are managed by me) received an email from Prince's camp a few days ago. We weren't sure what to make of it at first - it was 2 songs Paul Peterson had been involved in - but it appears as if they were giving us our own sneak preview. While we can't share it - thats up to them to do so - we did say we would spread the word about what we heard and say to my fellow Aussies this is show that shouldn't be missed . BTW, anyone who knows me knows that myself, my team and Prince and his team don't always see eye to eye but without prejudice I can say what i heard was very clever and extremely funky!"

What's really exciting is that word from both TO7 and FDeluxe seems to support the notion that Prince is reaching out to them.

The number of comments on DrFunkenberry Prince rehearsal thread is impressive as is Prince jamming fan favourites. This could be a stellar Prince / associated artists year.

As for 'who should support Pand NPG' - let's hope P can bring Sheila E back into the mix as well cool

My post is not about ticket sales. It's about selling an idea that took place nearly 30 years ago! Big difference! It has written nostalgia all over.

To an extent - although it's nostalgia which a lot of Prince fans have been wanting to see for years.

What I think is different about this year is that both The Time and The Family have new albums out, full of new music. They have each toured recently in their own right (have they not?), which means all three acts have new songs as well as old favourites; they're fresh, tight and stage ready.

Nostalgia brings to mind 'dusting off' old things and trying to sell them again, as they were many years ago.

But this is about potentially bringing together a group of musicians who dominated a particular scene in the 80s, but who have all evolved, individually and within their own bands, and could offer long-term fans a beautiful reunion moment, while still legitimately offering all ticket-holders an awesome, funky concert, packed with top-notch musicians.

I think it's a great idea - the fact that ticket sales are extremely strong down here anyway makes it a good place to experiment - and I think it could be lots of fun.

Completely agree with your comments. Perhaps the fact that both associated artists' changed their names and have recorded new material was the catalyst for Prince to ok their supporting role

If this was simply nostalgia P would surely have let them retain the rights to their original collective names in the first place

Maybe P's actually giving his fans what they want - I dunno, with some he's damned if he does...damned if he doesn't

[now for the counter argument, hehe]

Err, something just occurred to me.

Terry Lewis of The Original 7ven aka The Time got the 1st copy of this rehearsal jam after inquiring if PRINCE needed an opening act for Australia.

Terry got his answer through song. P always speaks through music. Its the language all of us understand.

Neil Richards said that the tape Fdeluxe received had 2 songs on it that Paul Peterson had been involved in.

We know that some of Prince's funkiest work happens when he's angry/pseudo angry.

What if the answer Terry got through song was "Mutiny"? wink

Maybe this isn't heading in the direction some of us think it is...

In which case...

...Cheap Fakes for opening act!! lol

hehehe...oh dear.

This was just posted on Fdeluxe's FB page:

"We got our mind made up, we've had enough, we're taking back that ship" ... a new take on a old favourite?

Good news, music wise. Not so good news, support act wise (I think).

That's of course assuming that what was sent to The Time and the Doc is the same as what was sent to Fdeluxe. But if it was, "Mutiny" is not exactly an invitation...

Maybe he's going to release a song especially for us Australian fans while on his tour here, kinda like he did with Extraloveable in Canada.

All I can say is props to the funky doctor for bringing us this info. If it weren't for him we wouldn't hear anything from the man, would we?

pray Peace in the House of Prince.

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

C'mon, don't be so sour! It ain't always all about the old-timers. I'm a younger fan and have never seen Prince live (the midwest misses out a lot, unfortunately), so the chance of just seeing Prince alone would have me ectastic. Add The Time to that lineup, and I don't think I could contain myself.
