I like Prince just fine. But he can't her himself anymore for all the "yes" people around him. Don't fool yourself into thinking that his early stuff was just him. Even if he played and wrote it all he had inspiration and a real life to write from and people around who were friends before the success, probably said no and HELL no to him.. I hear his ability, his skill and talent nowadays...but little to no inspiration. Working with some other equally skilled people (and yes they exist) and getting some fresh perspective is good for ANYone.

he doensn't owe anyone anything. He is a musician. He makes a product, if people like it, they should buy it, if not than don't buy it.

if we're talking about his target audience, sure. But as we're his target Market/core customers, from a purely business perspective (and let's face it, Prince is all about the business), that makes us stakeholders. It also makes us his cash cow. So in actual fact, whilst he DOESN'T owe us anything, it would be insane of any business not to sell it's customers what they want to buy.
**edit to add** forgot to say. He doesn't owe anyone anything? Try telling that to Revelations

And easy to find, getting a physical copy of 20Ten was challenging to me.

I would love to see an album with the musical scope and diversity of the Love Symbol Album fitted for where and how he is inspired now, in 2012, spiced with an otherworldly creativity and appeal like the first half of LotusFlow3r perhaps?
Also, notably, a few kickass rock tracks thrown in there in the vein of "Endorphinemachine", "319", "The Cross", and "Dreamer."
Two or three collaboration songs with SANTANA. I know he is and has always been a huge influence on Prince, and the things I hear on namely "Shhh" the song and The Rainbow Children album take my breath away. It would be two established living legends working together on soulful guitar crooning to say the least. I would absolutely love this!!!
Perhaps the last track to be a masterpiece epic in the ranks of "When Doves Cry", "Purple Rain", "Adore", "Come", "Gold", "Holy River", "The One", and "Last December".
I mean, I do have to say, if P were to never ever release another album, I couldn't complain, he has released boatloads of solid material, and I enjoy every single one of his thirty plus albums, inside and out. But if he were to put out one final release, these criterion would be the extra special sprinkles on the ice cream right here, so to speak, haha. [Edited 4/14/12 23:06pm]

i agree, i would want prince to take me by surprise and come out with something completely different to anything he's done before, it could either fail miserably or do extrememly well, prince has been experimenting for many years i'm sure he's got something unique up his sleeve. repeating something he's already done is what the people want to hear, they want to hear a return to the classic music that made him the legend he is today. we all love classic funky prince but who knows what revolutionary masterpieces he could be working on, after all why do think his band was called the revolution in the first place... Style is not biting style when U can't find the funk

Something Tom Petty influenced, acoustic powered pop/rock. Maybe he should get together with Jeff Lynne. Or even Wendy & Lisa again.

You won't see any new albums for about five years. All you others say Hell Yea!!

he owes me .. i've paid good money for plenty of shitty prince records and they were prince .. so it should have been as good as a prince record is .. and it wasn't ... its not a matter of my taste .. if u buy a brand and its not consistant .. you demand your money back .. or you demand something that is the quality you expect .. is prince gonna give us all our money back? .. just give us one more great record and all is forgiven .. its fair .. he owes me .. i've probably turned at leaset 50 people on to prince .. the good prince .. now hes gone and made a fool of us all .. he owes me .. end of story

Innovator again.... “At one time she was considered the world's youngest belly dancer. And Prince is the world's oldest woodland nymph!”

Of course it's built on the vibe of 1984 the Prince W/L thing but I love the sounds he's playing around with on that Dance Electric rehearsal jam, I hear the 1999 baby crying sampled in. And it sound like the original (some pieces) are playing underneath the song...

I'm surprised by the number of people wanting what we've already had. His great albums weren't more of the same. If Prince had done Purple Rain 27th orSotT 2 i'd have soon lost interest.
Phone and org forum = poor typing. Sorry. I meant Purple Rain 2 obviously. [Edited 4/16/12 23:29pm]

I want him to take this album in an absolute different direction than where '20Ten' was headed, that's for sure. I don't want it to sound like anything he's done already as I know he's still got it in him to come up with something that is completely unexpected, something that'd throw us right off balance & have the Org in an absolute chaotic frenzy
I feel like I'm setting myself up for failure

I think for me with a lot of the 1980's stuff, he was just scratching the surface, so it's not like we got 'more' of those sounds. Like Parade we just got a beginning of experimenting, and a lot of that music then too me was and still is so beyond it's time.
In 2012 I also say how much more drastically different sounds can be put out.

I'd like him to ditch all his studio musician. Lock himself in a studio with one or two female backup vocalist, limit him to 8 tracks and perhaps make something that sounds like Cody Chesnutt/Van Hunt meets Dirty Projectors.

Answer:
I want it to sound exactly like the new rehearsal version of The Dance Electric plus another 70 minutes of similarly inspired, loose, fun, funky music with good guitar solos and chicken scratch all over it.

I really want him to ditch the band. Go solo. Lock himself away and do everything. Perhaps even falsetto-only. Basically 'For You' but with all of his 2012 knowledge, experience and virtuosity.

no he does not owe you. Give your money back? You choose to buy the records, and NO ONE produces consistent record for 30 plus years. If you haven't liked a product from an artist in over a decade, then continiously buying the product isn't a good decision, is it?
If you go to a restaurant and don't like the food, than don't go back there Its simple as that. Nobody returns music cd's. If your have turned 50 people onto prince, its your own choice, prince never asked you, so he doesn't owe you.

Sony T on Bass
Michael Bland on Drum
good foundation for RNR and Funk
lately I've been checking out some of Aerosmithish stuff. I'm digging the heavy drum beat (M Bland), grittiness.

FUNKY!
It seems as this will be a HEAVY FUNK Feel...Something like 'The Black Album' I say that because it just seems he wants to show the world, he is not just a ballad type of guy. Haha..He can get real funky!
I want this to sound 'Essential Prince'
I want a surprise! A 'Spiritual Boom' somewhere...
Just a captivating sound that you never thought he could come up with....
He has nothing to prove....
To me, he will just confirm..
HE will confirm he is Prince and he's funky....He has no name, he is timeless, and he makes music to connect with your soul.

I'd prefer more tracks with live drums. Prince has been digging the Linn sounds on recent albums, but the feel of live drums at the core of his grooves can't be over-sold.
