Shhh.... Creepy to give this To a 16 year old to sing? The album sold over 2 million copies, reaching double platinum status, and yielded the biggest R&B hit of his career, the #1 R&B single "Can We Talk". The album produced 3 more charting singles with "I'm Ready", "Always In My Heart" and "Don't Say Goodbye Girl". To date this has been Tevin's biggest selling album and many considered this album to be the high mark of his career despite the fact he was only 16 when he recorded the album. The album was nominated for 3 Grammy Awards: 1994 Best Rhythm & Blues Vocal Performance - Male ("Can We Talk"), 1995 Best Rhythm & Blues Vocal Performance - Male ("I'm Ready"), and Best Rhythm & Blues Album. The album was also nominated for Best R&B Album at the 37th Grammy Awards. Prince was credited as Paisley Park for his contributions to the album as a songwriter, arranger, and producer.

I do not think so. Now his parents that let him get mixed up with prince and allowed him to sing that song might have issues. But over all it is not that bad of a song and something many 16 year olds would want to say to their girlfriend.
But I do recall a story that Tevin did not want to sing part of "round and round" (the "someday I'll make it in the big city..."). But Prince said they would play a game of Tic-Tac-Toe...prince won so he sang it. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!" |

@ the thought of Tevin doing this track.I though it was creepier when Prince recorded it himself for The Gold Experience.
At that point he would have been 37 years of age there abouts, and hes singing about doing a girl after school??

Yes very true...despite what some simpletons think, once people go through puberty, they are no longer children..they are young men and young women. If he was 16, he was a young man and probably banging chicks left and right. It's not creepy for a 16 to sing about sex. | |
