I found one on e-bay quite a few years ago:

Back in 1985 I passed on a "Paisley Park" picture disc not knowing what it was. Remember I live in the US so it wasn't available as readily as it was in the UK. Many years later I bought one for a lot more than I would have spent on it.

Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

Passed up a couple of copies of the Rainbow Children lp when it first came out. I thought $25 was too much for it and waited for it to drop. Keep kicking myself for that one. disbelief

Back around 1985 or so, my dad had a VHS tape containing:

Purple Rain

Trading Places

Prince concert footage

American Werewolf in London

and a porn film at the tail end of the tape. He misplaced it or let someone borrow it back in the early 90's and it was never seen again.

Damn, I miss that old porno.

this is a photo of one of the holy grails of prince collections, a test pressing 7" of hey hannigan, with the album version on one side and the 7" edit on the flip side. as collectors will know, the 12" white label with remixes is pretty rare, but this is considerably rarer

I've been lucky. No throwaways, but almost...

About a month ago I was cleaning out my garage. I was just chucking shit in the garbage and my wife is telling me "Make sure you're not throwing away stuff we want!" I said, "This is all garbage!" She starts looking through some of the stuff...and found my Purple Rain, Lovesexy and Act I tour programs. I was seriously about to throw them away! Had no clue they were there!

I would have died!

Saw some post-Emancipation cds at the wrecka stow (like N.E.W.S.) and decided not to buy them back then...

I regret it today....

Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''
If you can't be nice to someone on the net, you probably ain't worth much talking to in real life either.

I've passed up quite a few items over the years...

The Rainbow Children LP for $22

CD singles sold at the concerts... I thought I got that stuff through the NPG Club...

The Family CD for $30.. I thought I've got the vinyl.. $30 really?

Vanity 6 Long Box.. see above response

Apollonia Long Box.. see above response

Jesse Johnson Revue Long Box.. see above response

Cut up my Around in the World in a Day long box to make into a jewel case.

I can't think any more.. to far back. I remind my self that I was going through high school and college and the time. Money was really tight and had a limited "collection" budget.

I lost my ENTIRE Prince collection, except for my vinyl, in a house fire a few years back. Close to 25 years of official CD's, singles, protegee CD's, rare promos, hundreds of bootleg CD's, you name it. Amongst the items that burned (all official items bought well before these pirate clowns started pressing rip-off copies)

Madhouse "8"

Madhouse "16"

Jill Jones s/t

The Family German CD

319 promo CD

Mayte However Much U Want promo CD

MPLS CD single (I was able to salvage this disc but the artwork is burned)

Peace CD single

Daisy Chain CD single

And so many more. I pulled most of what I listed above out of the wreckage in hopes I could salvage them but some are too badly damaged. Yes I am glad no one was hurt and they were only material things but talk about a devastating collection to lose. I am SO grateful my vinyl was stored in the only room in the house that didn't go up in flames. All my rare vinyl survived thankfully.

But yeah, this completely sucked and was just a small portion of my overall music collection of nearly 35 years I lost.

I used to cut up my long-boxes to make inserts for my cassettes!

I wish I hadn't thrown away all the longboxes that my CDs came in, since those are actually worth something now and would be cool to have.
