Life O' The Party DVD - Official? Life O' The Party DVD - Coming Soon
I am right in presuming this is an official release DVD - given that it has backstage footage and soundchecks included?
ABSOLUTELY NO SOLICITING FOR BOOTLEGS.You want to discuss them? That's fine - but NO OFFERS TO COPY, NO REQUESTS TO COPY, NO "WHERE CAN I GET", etc. NO POSTING OF LINKS TO THESE SITES EITHER. Please be aware that the moderators here strictly enforce this rule. - [luv4u]

A bit more information would be very helpful. How did you hear about this dvd?

I don't think you can make an assumption on the product's legitimacy based on its content. Otherwise, by the same logic, studio outtakes would also be classed as "official"!
Do you have any other info? I can't seem to find anything on it. ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

Found out it's a new Eye Records boot but seems to have a documentary called Life O' The Party as part of the package that's PRO flimed. Maybe it was originally slated for release? [Edited 2/28/12 3:49am]

What I've seen looks incredible, literally had me jumping with excitement.
Basically got backstage footage from different venues, of Prince looking mighty relaxed with his band. Backstage footage of him at The essence awards(?|) ( the one where he dressed in that goofy costume, with the wig and glasses). Footage from Dallas I think, New york and just a shed load of various professional looking footage from main shows and aftershows.....I'm going nuts at the prospect of hgetting this

I´m surprised to see Takumi´s name on the door around the 4.00 min. mark. I thought he´d stopped working for Prince when the ONA tour was over? Anyway....nice footage. Though it is a bit of a messy compilation of a bunch of snippets from here and there. Good to see at least SOME live footage and backstage material though. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

If only this website had some kind of box where you could enter words, and then next to the box there would be a button labeled "Search", and if you clicked it it would search this website for other pages where this combination of words had previously popped up...
It's a frikking bootleg label -- which BTW also released the DVD of the 2009 concert mere weeks ago. © Bart Van Hemelen

Hilarious.
Was the Montreux DVD official? The "2009 LA Confidential" DVD? The "Lotus TV" DVD? © Bart Van Hemelen

Ohhh yessss, that was bloody brilliant!!! Loved it big time! Just sat agog & in total wonder at Prince's funkiness. Wow, what a dancer! If that's a taste of what's to come, then I cannot wait! Where did this surface from?

This looks like it's going to be fucking amazing, official or not. What the hell kinda source does Eye Records have? I wonder and hope and pray if maybe... we could get the 3121 film? I would LOVE to see that.

It looks like there was actually an official tour DVD planned, but then abandoned. Well, nothing unusual in prince world, but very frustrating nonetheless. Another missed opportunity.

LMAO!! Don't hurt 'em, Bart. Aww what the hell...get 'em!!!

Well, they were officially unauthorized, unofficial bootlegs.
LOL. | |

BTW - AND NO, I AM NOT ASKING FOR ANYTHING - I can't believe that neither the San Antonio or first Houston shows of that tour were not recorded in any form.

Looks like mostly behind the scenes stuff that is fun to watch once, then will rot on your shelf. Besides, I do whatever is possible to avoid giving money to Eye Records. They will add a bonus track of Rhonda picking her nose to make sure it goes over 80 minutes, and I don't like to pay money for 90 minute discs that I can't make backup copies for. The 90 minute disc thing has cost them at least $500 from me, and at least a few other people. In a world where pressed discs aren't selling as much, you'd think the brains behind EYE would figure this out.

I've seen parts of the teaser. Quite exciting. I'll watch the whole thing later, but from what I've seen, nice backstage/documentary footage. Oh and Bart? Alt + F4 + Click "Shutdown" ...And never come back. ;)

looking pretty good so far man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Dayum!!!!! This will make up for not getting a new CD last year.
The backstage stuff is priceless and looks like its gonna be fun to watch!!!
The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

The clip looks interesting but I'm not convinced. The DVD set has a lot of old circulating clips. If the doco is longish and the live concert bits on disc 2 are pro shot then great but this could be one disc if you ask me. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Exactly. This was actually going to be Disc Two of a 2 DVD set. Disc 1 was going to be a concert, I think you can guess which one.
Once again, Prince spends a bunch of money on a project, doesn't release it then the bootleggers get a hold of it and make money off of it. Prince is a horrible businessman.

Yeah but the HOUSE OF BLUES clips have not been circulating nor has the behind the scenes or NPG Music Club s. check to my knowledge. That alone makes it worth it imo, oh & its FREE!!! [Edited 2/29/12 9:29am]
