(sn-m-tgr-f) The art or technique of movie photography, including both the shooting and development of the film.
(vd-gr-f) The art or practice of using a video camera
It's my opinion that the Parade era has the best of Prince videos and the images from the movie Under the Cherry Moon, the Family & Sheila E Romance 1600 album backcover. Despite the success of the film its still wonderful 2 look at. I think the quote concerning Clare Fischer, Special thanks 2 Clare Fischer 4 making brighter the colors black & white, can be applied 2 the whole visual era of Parade. Some movie scenes like Christrophers dying scene can be viewed as comical, but 2 see them in snap shots is pretty artistic. Movie scenes video scenes promotional photos album art that U seriously love artistically...♥
Love God & Prince and the Revolution ‘86 'The Director of Photography is the custodian of the heart of film making... as the writers are of its soul .... his tool is a box with a glass window, lifeless until he breathes into it his creative spirit and injects into its steel veins, the plasma of his imagination .... the product of his camera, and therefore of his magic, means many things to many persons - fulfilment of an ambition .... realization of dreams' .... My favorite overall look and feel of one of Prince's "eras" goes to Sign O The Times. From the typography and color palette to the mystery/androgyny photography on the LP, single and 12" sleeves. It all worked well and gave a particularly exciting vibe to the project.
Parade was very strong as well by borrowing from the classically understated elements and looks of earlier, historically significant art movements. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

SOTT is my 2nd fav, and I like how some of the SOTT look come from the Parade look
cut off shirts, the use of the paisley Parade speakers and some other things the stage stets are similar too
But the Purple Rain-Lovesexy looks are those I wish were utilized a bit longer

I recently saw the outtakes from this shoot. The raw images are awesome, I cant believe this video ended up as ugly as it did.
I think it's worth redoing the god awful blue screen effects with modern ones. I do not think it would be that difficult.
But again the unedited images from this shoot are gorgeous.

Although I'd go CRAZY for an UTCM color edition release of the film, something about the movie being in black & white captured a beautiful essence of a some what goofy film. This was a lovely Era, and the videography of videos such as Mountains takes in the beauty of the music. "How Can I Stand To..Stay Where I Am? Poor Butterfly Who..Dont Understand." P

It does, they should release it color, since it was shot in color. Then we can enjoy the difference
I would like to see the Kiss video in Black & White

Thank U!!! I told my sister the film was shot in color, but was transfered to black & white due to Prince's request. & She would say it was shot in black & white due to Princes request.
& yes Kiss in black & white would be quite nice, Ive always wanted there to be a music video for Sometimes It Snows In April and UTCM & not to mention New Position being released as a single
& Baby Go Go would have been a perfect match 4 the UTCM movie cinematography, in a number of scenes. Dont know if it was recorded 4 Parade r ATWIAD, still a perfect fit. "How Can I Stand To..Stay Where I Am? Poor Butterfly Who..Dont Understand." P

I was watching UTCM last night, it's actually a good film. Music band scenes would have made the film 7 times better. At Mary Sharon's birthday party at night, Mia Bocca & the New Position(i believe) were played, he easily could have had Jill Jones & the Revolution set up as the party band for those 2 songs
I would have love 2 C a video 4 Sometimes It Snows In April & Christopher Tracey's Parade and vivid colorful video something like Raspberry Beret + Girls & Boys
I thought Baby Go Go was from the Dream Factory sessions? It's A Wonderful Day was in the film and some good pre Madhouse Junk Music

Im defintley gonna have to pop that movie in, & check out Marys birthday party scene again.
That video you described sounds pretty darn awesome. Maybe there shouldve been a musical movie version, so we can get a song for each scene
U would no better than me, where Baby Go Go time frame recording was. I just thought it had a Parade sound, but its feature on some of the Dream Factory boots, on other its not though, so your probably right , then again there boots so who really knows. "How Can I Stand To..Stay Where I Am? Poor Butterfly Who..Dont Understand." P

This is similar to a picture I've seen here and been looking for, but my google is weak.
In the picture I'm looking for, Prince has jumped off speakers that can be seen behind him. It shows how incredible the move is. I'm firmly planted in denial

These are the pictures I could find. No one with speakers in the back though. You made me curious! I wanna find that pic!

Prince with Creative Consultant & Director Mary Lambert
Originally, the film was to be directed by Mary Lambert, a premier music-video director who has overseen Madonna's "Borderline" and "Material Girl," Sheila E.'s "The Glamorous Life," and the Go-Go's "Yes Or No." But in mid-September, about a month or so into the movie's two-month shooting schedule, Lambert abruptly walked off the set and handed the directing reins to His Royal Badness.
Lambert issued a statement which read, in part, "I'm leaving under totally amicable circumstances. It's just become quite apparent that Prince has such a strong vision of what this movie should be, a vision that extends to so many areas of the film, that it makes no sense for me to stand between him and the film anymore. So I'm going off to work on my own feature and letting him finish his."

I am nothing without your touch my love I am nothing without your kiss 2 spend each night in your arms, my flower Is this man's idea of bliss 2 not hear your voice each day Is 2 die 7 times by God's wrath If I was anything other than human I'd be the water in your bath Till then, my love, ciao
