sometimes when i listen 2 these podcasts i start 2 tense up when captain gives his reviews over certain songs that are just FUNKY and he may seem 2 praise more the pop stuff than the funk, which is ok if that's what he prefers 2 do.

the review of slow love i so have 2 disagree with u fellas. when it first came out i was stoked about the song but as time has gone on 25 years later, it's lost it's effect on me and i can easily skip this track with no problems.

surprised that when the review of It that no one mentioned the joffrey ballets version of this and how they brung out the drums in their dances. it was because of that i really heard nuasaunces i had never heard b4 in the song. that's one of the quirks about prince's music is that after repeated listenings u find something u never heard b4 or had paid attention to.

forever in my life is perfect as is! leave susan alone lol

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

"

Sign o' the Times [Paisley Park, 1987]
No formal breakthrough, and despite the title/lead/debut single, no social relevance move either, which given the message of "The Cross" (guess, just guess) suits me fine. Merely the most gifted pop musician of his generation proving what a motherfucker he is for two discs start to finish. With helpmate turns from Camille, Susannah, Sheila E., Sheena Easton, he's back to his one-man-band tricks, so collective creation fans should be grateful that at least the second-hottest groove here, after the galvanic "U Got the Look," is Revolution live. Elsewhere Prince-the-rhythm section works on his r&b so Prince-the-harmony-group can show off vocal chops that make Stevie Wonder sound like a struggling ventriloquist. Yet the voices put over real emotions--studio solitude hasn't reactivated his solipsism. The objects of his desire are also objects of interest, affection, and respect. Some of them he may not even fuck. A+"

Your lack of Prince Knowledge at times is resounding.

I would have thought some research before hand would have come in handy.

Prince had never heard of Dorothy Parker. I can't be be bothered to correct the other factual errors.

I will not be wasting anymore time with these, 2 hours of wasted time.

Sure, he came up with the idea in a dream right ?

and like Prince has never told a lie in his life to further the legend of his genius. LOL

Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!

Did we actually state that as a fact? No. We talked about is as a possibility. Some of us thought he did, some of us thought he didn't. Do you have direct evidence that Prince didn't know about the poet Dorothy Parker? If so, share it, so we can all learn.

Same goes for other factual errors we may have made. We have no intention of making factual errors, so when we do, we appreciate it when people correct us.

^ ^ ^ I agree smile As usuall guys I really enjoyed the show , especialy because this time it's sott smile can't believe i've been listening to that album for 25 yrs !!! Gotta agree with mc - the vinyl IS better ! I Love all the track's u reviewed but 'Housequake' is THE jam ! 'TBODP' is sublime & 'FIML' is beautifull. Looking foward 2 part 2 - I really enjoyed hearing u guy's talk about one of my favourite lp's that has been the soundtrack of my life since I was 14 yrs old!
"We just let people talk & say whatever they want 2 say. 9 times out of 10, trust me, what's out there now, I wouldn't give nary one of these folks the time of day. That's why I don't say anything back, because there's so much that's wrong" - P, Dec '15

No way. P&B Podcast is the best thing going. SOTT episode was great like all the others. They discuss the music on a level that most of us can't even touch. Love the show!

Everytime I see a new Peach & Black in iTunes I get excited and can't wait to waste a couple hours of time listening to their opinions & observations. It's fun wasting time hearing things from their point of view and I can't wait for part 2! biggrin

That said, it would be cool if they had one of the "experts" join in to correct factual innaccuracies or maybe to preview the show and edit in some corrections before posting. Just as long as it didn't ruin their flow or spoil their fun.

Thanks for the hours and hours of wasted time (otherwise known as Entertainment) guys!! Please keep it going... cool

Another excellent podcast chaps, as always. I've purposely not listened to the album for a good few years as I played it so much on its' release it felt like it was physically engrained into my brain. Now I've got a bit of 'time distance', it's great to appreciate it again with older ears with your comments in mind, exploring the nooks & crannies I missed back in the day - something I like to do with his past albums.

Congrats on your 50th episode - yours is my favourite podcast/radio show by a mile - long may you continue. I actually dread the day when you've finally reviewed all his albums!

Respect due!!

(Oh and "Slow love" - man - this tune just drags on & on for me)

As Usual the P&B boys have out done themselves with ENTERTAINING and intelligent commentary.

I have been listening and laughing for about a year now and still giggle out loud at their take on things.

As a fellow Aussie im very proud that we have P fans that are so musically knowledgeable and happy to take the Piss out of themselves lol.

SOTT P1 is another classic ep.

CANT FUNKING WAIT FOR P2.

Congrats!

Totally agree w whoever it was preaching the virtues of vinyl LPs...
I've started collected my fave 70s n 80s albums on vinyl (including Princes of course) and sonically they sound almost completely different and yes 100000x superior to CD

Very amusing show guys, keep em coming

Is Captain contrarion just to drive us crazy? Sometimes I think so.

But was it Captain who said the Strange But True is one of his favorite songs of all time (or something like that)? If so, all some is forgiven.

Adorecream

I just loved it, you guys all have quite diverse views and it was so well done. How do I hear more, I am waiting for your review of Adore. I also found it was quite good to listen to the podcast with the album in the background lower, sounds even better that way. Its easy too with the amount of drum machines in this album. He was fixated with drum machines at the time.

I love the way too, how the word funky is used a lot as an adjective, its definitely the one word you could say about the album.

Great work guys from across the ditch (Altho I am coming to Melbourne on May 15th and can't wait).

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Thank you!

In my adult life I no longer have friends that share my taste in music and I miss having someone to share it with. It's really nice to hear music I love being discussed!
