How would you like the next album to sound?

Mplsound Revolution style of 1984
Pyschedlic pop album
Paisley funk circa 1986/87
Heavy bombasic funk of the npg 1993/95
Like a long lost Hendrix album
Modern electronica thing
Retro 1970's funk soul ala The Rainbow Children
acoustic
modern RnB vibe aiming for the charts.

So tell me how you want it too sound and then how you think it will sound.

Prince.

But, if i were to elaborate, new sounds. Sounds we haven't heard before.

Repeating the past is the last thing i want. The title track 3121 is one of the most unique things he's done recently, it was like a whole new funk sound. The album may take a 180° turn after that, but that track along with Black Sweat were, especially the former, what i call "new sounds" (at least in funk), something unique and innovative.

How i wish the album carried on in that way, it would of been something special instead of a good and diverse pop album (which was his aim with that album i guess).

So yeah, new sounds overall and that should tie into just one word - Prince.

However, i do enjoy his more "by-the-numbers" releases as well.

From the choices i'd go for the paisley funk sound.

I would go for funky pop, i want melodies and hooks, i want guitar solo's, synth solo's and sax solo's.

I want the album to be full of energy, i want Camille and i want it only to have one ballad unless it has more than 10 tracks, which I don't want it to have.

I want to sound like he made it in 1987.

Real music from real musicians, please.

He keeps banging on about it, but apart from bits of Lotu$flow£r, he's been synthing it all the way for years.

New Power Trio or John Blackwell on drums is a good place to start.

Since his lyrics writing has gotten so lazy, I agree.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Let's not give up on his lyrics. He just needs to express himself more about chem trails, the economy, politics, and his religous faith.

Good.

That said, let's have 1 of these 4 please.

If it's going to have a modern sound, it'd be cool if it was a little different from a generic pop, rock, or R&B album. Therefore, electronica would be cool IF IT IS DONE WELL, which means working with several really good electronica producers/programmers.

If it's retro, then let's do REAL MUSIC BY REAL MUSICIANS, which leads me to Hendrix or 70s funk soul. Plenty of good guitar solos & keys would be great.

And I'm always down for another Prince acoustic album, either guitar or piano based.

Like Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber in bed 6AM, looking at each other shame-faced and lost for words after a night of drunken shit-faced flacid non-sex after some awards party, and unbeknown to them, Madonna is spying on them through a cut-out eye in a painting of Nicki Minaj dressed in drag as Michael Jackson on the wall opposite the bed.

So basically, MPLSound pt.2

That would be the perfect move for Prince. Also, he can bring Cat back into the scene to rap along with Dougie Fresh and I would be in heaven if Larry Graham is included in the project as a whole.

I'm hoping it sound like he's been possessed by some musical entity while he's locked in a room, experimenting with some new sounds. That's what the 1999 album sounds like to me.
