It's Sonny T. It was also the second single from Exodus (the second NPG album) - you should grab it, it's a great album and kind of companion piece to the Gold Experience, very Parliament-Funkadelic influenced.

Forewarning: Exodus is heavy on the Parliament-Funkadelic and only sparingly a companion to TGE. I've read the comparisons countless times, but really Exodus feels slapdash and clumsy to me - nothing like TGE. And Sonny T sings lead vocals on every single song. Prince shares the lead on "Count the Days", "Good Life", and he does some good vocals on "Cherry Cherry".

ErnestSewell used to praise Exodus to me up one side and down the other. I slept on it for years until I just decided, fuck it. I had the 95 birthday show and they did some cool live versions, but that's where the Exodus album really shines - live, not on wax (IMO).

After I copped it and perused through.... So much Sonny T it was really offputting to me. I was expecting something along the lines of The Time and V6's albums being so close in theme and production to Purple Rain and 1999, etc. Not the case with Exodus. It is very much a continuation of GoldNigga and the updated Madhouse 24 album. It's a straight party vibe.

Hold up, wait a minute!

You can't let one Hallucination Rain ruin a bag of apples....there is some deliciousness on that CD.

Return of the Bump Squad and Get Wild are some of the funkiest stuff Prince has done.

And these maxi singles for Get Wild!!!!!! Gurl, they have bumped at my parties many of times. lol

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

When I said companion to TGE, I meant in terms of era, promo and release, and if anything more like a Black Album/Lovesexy thing going on (two side, same era kind of thing). Obv. if anything is a companion to TGE in terms of material, it's Come because of their shared history.

Exodus is a good album imo. The thing that lets it down for me is the stupid segues in between the tracks. They are annoying and pointless and if left out there could have been space for another couple of real songs.

The outakes from this album are ok too, especially the 11 min Hallucination Rain.

The music for Hallucination Rain sounds good, but the vocals sigh it has a mello smooth vibe though.

I don't understand why lots of people don't like it....(ok, maybe Sonny T)...but that song is written so well and there is no denying that it's written by Prince.

Yeah, I didn't mean to sound like I was disregarding your comment. Just that I've heard that said before. In fact, I even think Ernest created some TGE/Come/Exodus hybrid compilation out there when he was doing these extended era-based albums*.

* He did a really awesome one for Parade and one for Purple Rain.

To me, "Cherry Cherry" sounds like a mix between The Time's "Girl" and like... "Damn U" or something. I don't like it. lol

Forgot about mentioning "Get Wild" up there. That might one of 2 tracks i like on the whole record.
