Glastonbury 2003

Radiohead have just confirmed they will headline the Saturday of the festival. REM have also confirmed headlining the Friday.
If Prince is headling aswell could be one of the best lineups for a while! Has anyone got the NPG email address as I'd like to see what they say about whether Prince will be there.
Maybe they'll tell something.

can u buy individual day tickets for glastonbury
i dont fancy going down there for 4 days just to see Prince.
Thats if he turns up that is.
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!

Though it'd be great if he was, I very much doubt Prince will be there,

muirdo - out of 1000 acts, is there really only ONE you would like to see???!!! No, you can't buy "day passes", but there are usually Sunday tickets available on the door on Sunday only (though, these are sometimes reserved for locals only).

That said, there is sooo much to see and do at Glastonbury, you could go the whole weekend without seeing any of the bands and still have an amazing time - just go!

Is that really what they said? Are they crazy? They must have got seriously bullied at school... I mean Christ I can just imagine it: "Who's your favorite footballer?" asks someone in the playground.
The NPG's reply: "We don't have any information on that at present." Is that all anyone at NPG can say?

Ah u beat me 2 it Mindflux!

Sorry Muirdo I have to second Mindflux, Glastonbury is such an amazing event Prince will be just the cherry on the cake.

If the weather is nice u could buy your ticket, go down to Glastonbury for 3 days, have Prince pull out at the last minute and STILL have had the best weekend in years! Yes it is that good.

(Not that I want Prince to pull out... if he is playing.)

i have friends who went down to glastonbury a few years ago and they really enjoyed it
I realise how my comment looked and i accept that i worded it wrong.
You know that way when you are at your work and u have just got to be quick with a post?
I think i would enjoy it T in the Park kicks ass
and im sure glastonbury is 10 times better.
If he did do the gig though,it may open up the summer festival avenue to him,and then he may even do the likes of T in the Park.
woo-hoo!!

I saw this on the following website: eFestivals.co.uk:
___
Radiohead have today put a link from their website to the website run by the people who run their online shop, which has a statement saying Radiohead will play at Glastonbury Festival this year - as strongly rumoured here for quite a while.

Their new album should be released shortly before, so they'll have new material to play, and you'll have a chance to familiarise yourself with the new songs.

A source well connected with Eat Static has also told us that they'll be playing somewhere over the weekend, although which stage and day is not yet confirmed.

Someone has told us that Prince has declined to play on the Sunday night, although we have been unable to verify whether this is true or not.
___

again, pure speculation

alls I know is I'm goin either way...Glasto is fun regardless of who plays (altho it would be nice to see our Princey there!)

i'm not gonna buy a ticket until it's confirmed. But even then Prince, isn't that loyal to his fans and wouldn't bat an eyelid, pulling out last minute.

but still i might go this year regardless...

the reason i dont want him 2 play is that i kinda think that festivals hav become commercial they try 2 put on as many popular acts as possible and i think that sound quality and stage sets suffer as a result i also think that if he played he would b the last act which is pretty obvious as a result people would b knackered u would get loads of fans that arent that intrested in prince watchin him any way which would mean real fans dont get a look in and there would probs b loads of piss heads chuckin stuff i think it would b better if he just played a few gigs instead

richierich - sorry, but that's utter rubbish!! You ever been? Your post suggests not. Funnuily enough, almost everyone who has said that Prince would not suit Glasto or vice-versa, have not been to the festival itself!!

Hehe - funny to see that they have that line on their site now "Someone well connected with Eat Static..." - that was me!!!

No - not festivals - Glastonbury in particular is what I mean. The Essential was a festival (now defunct) but was definitely not a festival that would have suited Prince (it was dance and dub oriented).

Have you been to Glastonbury? If not, you can't draw any conclusions on his suitablility for a festival you've never experienced.

hehe - by the way, piss-heads are actually few and far between at Glastonbury. I think you'll find there are different influences at work there!! (which also means that "if he played he would b the last act which is pretty obvious as a result people would b knackered" is also not true. People that go to Glastonbury KNOW they ain't gonna get sleep - its a 72-hour party!

Hey - no worries, rich. I never thought I would see him play either, but I never thought I'd see Roger Waters there, or the Rev Al Greene, or...well, the point is, Glasto is full of surprises - even once the event has started, new "mystery" guests suddenly fly in by helicopter!!

There will always be people like that. I would love Prince to get some more exposure and besides those people you talk about don't go to festivals or concerts. They're not really into the music at all.
