Possibly released by mail in late 1993 (that's what The Vault book claims) but NO ONE seems to have a copy (out of 1000 supposedly released)!!! A boot copy is circulating of this version, but some suspect it comes from an inhouse cassette and not that release. I wish I'd have someone's final words about this.

Then released by WB in 1995, as we all know.

eek lol I didn't know that.. but I do know it was released for viewing on Lotusflow3r.com, too... I actually think this would've been a really great album, had it got a regular release...

I agree that it would've been a good release. In fact, I still think it's worth releasing. Why not press CDs of The Undertaker, Xpectation, The Chocolate Invasion, and those other albums that are currently impossible to get legally? It wouldn't take much effort, and they would at least sell a little bit.

That was the idea behind the canceled Chocolate Invasion box-set back in 2003, which was supposed to contain The Chocolate Invasion, The Slaughterhouse, C-Note, Xpectation, One Nite Alone..., The War and Glam Slam Mix. I remember thinking back then that The Undertaker would have been a great addition to the set, thus making it 8 records.

Though officially cancelled for technical reasons, it's quite obvious that Prince realized that such an expensive package, containing only previously available material, would sell only to the most hardcore fans and would probably be a financial loss, while releasing everything digitally on a website instead (which he did a few months later) would be profitable. But now nothing's available anymore.

What P needs is an online store with EVERYTHING (or at least everything he owns at this point) available in both FLAC and MP3 320.

Musically it's great, but it's a shit viewing experience imo. All the swirly effects make it difficult to watch. It could have been great with just 2 or 3 cameras filming the performance without turning it into a wanabee 1960's psych experience.

The album's great though.

It's out there for free if you want it.

Go for the one titled The Sacrafice Of The Undertaker, it includes The Undertaker and The Sacrafice Of Victor videos, both are ripped from laserdisc and are the best quality available imo.

Let me check my videotape tonight (I bought it back in 1994 or 1995) to see if there is any sign of authenticity....
