hohner the artist? hey everyone, ive been playing guitar for about a year and a half, and have saved up around 800 dollars for a guitar.. Prince inspired me to play guitar, so i figured it would be cool to have a replica of his guitar?
but my question is do any of you have the Hohner Artist guitar? if so how does it play? and is it one i should purchase, or are there better guitars for this price?
im new at buying guitars, and would apreciate the help.
NOTE: IM NOT SURE IF THIS BELONGS IN "PRINCE MUSIC AND MORE" BUT I DIDNT KNOW WHERE ELSE TO POST IT.
thanks! | |

its not a 100% replica, so to me its pretty disappointing. the headstock is completely different and weird looking Bogey and Bacall, peanut butter and jelly, Wall being on fucking point, is "classic" dipshit. An iphone is top shelf technology. Get it straight. This thing is 4g. -Wall the great

I have one.............and love the thing. Quality is spot on even though the headstock is different. 92% is close enough I guess.

i read that fender had complained to hohner that the guitar they made was too close to a real telecaster, so on later models and on the prince model, they had to change the headstock so it looks less like the real fender guitar.
so the vintage version that prince uses has the old fender style headstock and the new ones they sell have the new version, which would explain why it doesn't look the same.
anyone know any more about this??
i did a quick search and found a few links with more info and lots of pics:

Its not about how it plays. It's about how well you give head to it.
how it plays "Climb in my fur."

i thought that the 'Black Prince' looked far better, actually it was a thing of beauty!. From what I understand though the 'Artist' new version was not that great i.e. too heavy, different pick-ups etc. Am I right in thinking that P customised his original guitar set up?. Nice to hear peopel that have bought it actually like it though, a lot depends on the pedal set ups you have oh and ...........your ability to catually play a guitar!!.

Yeah......I have heard the the black one is a little higher end. I guess it depends if your looking for a replica or if you would be using it more to play.

I've played two diffrent ones and they both felt and sounded great.
It will only go up in price if your worried about it as an investment
Ultimatly it's just a great fun guitar to play
