I miss the freedom. I miss how simple it all seemed. Prince played what he wanted when he wanted and we just loved him. So I think I miss my old school freedom as much as his. Never thought I would have to choose between seeing Prince live or paying the morgage. Still we are the lucky ones because we were there and know first hand how good it was.

Oldskool reply: to me (most of) the music post Warner Bros. is boring,

I am a Prince fan since 1983 - I miss when Prince music was touching me: 1978 - 1995.

Single releases, maxi singles, music videos, in other words I miss the "products".

despite he looks washed up, and aint selling any records nomore:

Prince ain't that different from other mainstream artists,

they become boring, unable to deliver as soon as they reach about 35 years of age....

I still hope for a Prince come back, but I have my doubts. It happened with Musicology, but that album is far from great (I like about half of the songs though),,

The record buying youth (do they exists today) are listening to a whole new generation of stars from Rammstein to Lady Gaga,

Youth of today don't care the slightest about the "purple music", Prince isn't "hot" outside the "culture of fans" here on the org. He (Prince) is a very "cold" artist, sad but true.

(before the personal attacks on me: I still love 1978 to 1995, see my avatar.. and my love for the older music is why I guess, I am still active here)... wink

I have been a fan since 1979 and I just miss hearing something different when Prince is in concert.

I love hearing Purple Rain, but I want to hear more of those jewels like Large Room, Rock Hard in a Funky Place, She Spoke to Me, etc. I don't want to always hear the "pop" version of Prince...I want to hear songs for the true, hardcore Prince fan when Prince performs live.

Shoot, sing to us (his old school base)! We are the true blue fams that are hardcore, not the little newbies who want to hear Prince because of Purple Rain. fro

i miss the more intimate venues and people NOT singing along at the top of their lungs as if you paid to hear them. i miss wondering what's next and having your face blown off when NEXT was offered up. i miss prince, unbroken by expectation and demand and just willing to stream LIVE as he felt it. i miss the WONDER that came with all of the above. wink

I've been on the purple bus since I was a kid ('86) . I miss the b sides too & the yearly tours that played alot of the latest lp's tracks. Also miss every album being a new look/sound/theme & the excitement involved when the new lp hit . Miss trying 2 keep up with all the mpls scene artists , but most of all I miss HIS ORIGINAL/OFF KEY/AMAZING DANCING !!! bawl

Being a fan since 81 I really am just happy that Prince is still around. Fuck all that, he's still here and that's all that matters.

The only thing I miss is him touring the US.

He still puts out music that I like.

BTW, a couple of you owe thedance an apology.

I don't miss much as I have the memories, visuals, & records. When I reflect back on these artists who are no longer with us; I'm grateful he is and still performing.
