I can't believe you are questioning his intellect. I think the man is obviously more reserved than you might have thought or first anticipated and this may give you the impression that he is boring. I HIGHLY doubt that he could not carry on a conversation. Let's remember it would have to be with someone that has the ability to discuss and also have an interest in the subject of discussion. Maybe Prince gets bored with the same old questions that are always asked.

On many of Prince's records, you can hear a side of him that to many sounds like "the real Prince"...this guy is funny, intelligent...but yes he has some strange ways of communicating. I believe these are self-mythologising. He likes the mystique, it seperates him from the average joe and allows him to say "we're gonna put you over here", a la the Kevin Smith interview, while he casts himself in the middle of the world he created. I think he is probably quite a regular guy at heart, but like Michael Jackson, he has some hang ups (an understatement, yes). I think as he grows older, we will see the return of a more honest, upfront Prince...that seems to be the way his father was in his old age.

I hope he loosens up a little as he gets older...his recent concerts seem to be indicating a happier Prince, but he should loosen up on the religious dogma I think, or at least just stop with the preachy stuff. I don't care what his beliefs are, he just shouldn't shove it down loyal fans throats as part of his product (cause lord knows we will listen no matter what it is, but we'd prefer it to be fun, that's why we liked him to begin with).

But like it is said of many famous (often eccentric) people, "it's Prince's world, we just live in it".

He could be boring, who knows. When I was younger I was painfully shy. Sometimes you wouldn't even know I was there. I thought I was boring. In fact I was suffering from a depressive illness which made it difficult for me to relate because I found it hard to live with my moods. Sometimes it seems Prince is a very engaging personality. He looks more out of his shell then he did 10 years ago.

If you're asking "Do I find him boring?", well, anyone who visits the .org, logically, can't find him boring (unless their lives are sooo empty that the only thing they can do is go to a site to engage in conversation about someone who bores them!!). Yeah his music career is interesting... nobody would argue.

But he himself is not absorbing a real normal life with constant life enriching experiences. I would say that he's such a control freak that (music aside) Madonna is right, he has become a pretty shallow/boring person.

To be so good at each instrument you need to work hours and hours. You must in fact dedicate most of your time to your art. When a great pianist plays 3 hours of piano a fday instead of 7 or eight hours he will tell you he hears the difference !

I really belive musicians like him or Miles Davis for instance are not completely normal. You look at all geniuses and 95% of them do not communicate normally.

For having seen him during rehearsals a few times now he is nothing but boring. He is just overgifted.

However, aren't most of the highly intelligent and artsy types the same way? They think on a different wave length, in different ways. They come up with the unusual and inventive because they have vision. They think out of the box.
