Shows how over priced CD's are here in Australia. Six months ago it was being sold in jb hi Fi (a big cd/DVD chain here) for over $60 and I was pleased I got it for $30.... I feel rather cheated now.

I really love the Lotus disc, It's such an awesome album. What a great price. It was selling over here for £25-£30... Crazy. Dear Prince please go through a normal record label next time you release something. Do I get priority cause I'm a "founding member"? Lol "Still Crazy 4 Coco Rock"

That's a great deal for the Lotusflow3r album, plus you get two novelty-sized ear-rings free with it.

Is it Prince's best work? No, but it's really weird to me that it's going for only a buck in some places, wtf? Even the Bria disc as a standalone is worth more than that. Yes, I said it. 비

It's a solid album, in the sense that it doesn't suck.
The pricetag has little to do with the quality in this situation. But coming after the odd, lopsided, lackluster Planet Earth, Prince needed to release something ....brilliant... Instead we got an uptempo album he could do in his sleep, A concept album that's ok, and a protege album that most audiences would dislike. It needed to be great. Or it needed to be heavily promoted.
I think he did promote it quite a bit...heavily as a matter of fact, but chosing venues that were temperary or largely ineffective for the longrun.
Prince has no official presense on youtube, he's not taken advantage of iTunes to generate buzz, and he's been openly hostile to his biggest fansite, prince.org

CD are so 1993. I want the Lotusflower 3D movie at Target. What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

Only Target was officially allowed to sell it in the States(or wherever Targets are outside the US). That explains the high prices at other dealers. They probably spent their own coin to get the copies and had them shipped. they're trying to make a profit for the effort. Even the small stores in NYC sell it at a higher price. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I feel rather cheated now. Don't feel cheated. You got two prince albums plus a bonus Bria disc worth it for the album track for just 30 bucks. You do think it's worth more than a dollar don't you? If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

lust said: You do think it's worth more than a dollar don't you? Yes and no. Yes- No music should be worth so little. And $10au per CD was a pretty good deal. No- It's my least favourite album I have purchased so far (I only half way through my collection) and its the one I paid the most for. Put it this way if I had paid $60 for it which was the original price I would have been one unhappy bunny. Besides, everyone loves a bargain!

I have Dirty Mind, Contraversy, 1999, Purple Rain, SOTT, Parade, D&P, Graffiti Bridge, Love Symbol, Planet Earth and Lotus.... Not bad considering I seriously got into P 18 months ago. I'll most probably get the lot, good or bad.

Honestly I think it was really just Prince fans specifically who had a bug up their ass about the Bria cd. If you think about it, the population at large didn't really know about it in order to love or hate it, but if they had known I think that if it had been properly promoted, it would've fared better than most P fans, think. Actually Bria doesn't have a bad voice and some of the songs were pretty decent in a mellow, "Quiet Storm" kinda way. It wasn't the steaming pile of shit that most fans insist it was.
Having said that, Prince didn't really do her any favors by mentioning her in the same sentence as Sade before it was released - he pretty much set her up to fail right from the beginning with that. To some extent the same thing is kinda going on with Andy Allo - a lot of the publicity stunt things he has her posting on FB have kind of backfired and alienated his fanbase from her.
As far as the LotusFlower cd specifically goes - is it a favorite of mine? No, I find it dull and actually like Mplsound better - but it's not the worst thing ever either and I think it suffered from lack of proper promotion. Also there's just the fact that all artists, if they've been fortunate enough to have lasted in music that long, find that eventually their commercial heyday ends and people don't buy their music as much as they used to. 비

We should be used to this by now. ALL Prince albums show up in the discount bins shortly after release. It's been like that since LoveSexy. His protoge albums, debut in the discount bins, that's assuming they ever make it to press in the first place. Radio tends to show a fair amount of support to everything he puts out, but retail starts dumping product pretty much as soon as they get it. Prince has literaly tried every trick in the book to prevent that situation, but nothing has worked so far.
