Great videos, along with I Wish U Heaven... which was only a year before... though, best video concept? I actually wonder whether the 'Controversy' videos were the best concept and that Black Sweat was the sexiest video... Obviously I'm a bloke... Obviously I'm also a bloke who believes the 'laugh the into bed' myth, obviously I'm a bloke who would rather see a comedic Prince than a 'sexy' one... actually, thinking about it... Girls and Boys, Mountains and Anotherloverholenyohead are all better videos than the Batman videos, too.

When it comes to concept, a whole lot of other video's would come out on top. The concepts of video's like I Wish U Heaven, Sign "O"The Times, Somewhere Here On Earth and The Greatest Romance Ever Sold are more solid than the duality of the Batdance video.

But it sure is right to have a particular weakness for certain images. As a guy I am not much into Prince as a sex symbol. I do get that ladies like that dresses up, but that attracts a certain kind of girl that I've come to dislike fervently after being frontrow on a lot of Prince concerts. Female frontrow concert fans are the meanest bitches that will do literally anything to get to the front. Even if someone else is already there.

But that's an entirely different thread. (grin)

i seem to like the very early videos where everything looks a bit bespoke and raw. later on it's all to stylized and shiny.

Parade the best video concepts

I was just thinking about this song/video today, if in fact this thread is about "Batdance." It's not a song I listen to much but I have a lot of respect for it because it's one of those songs only Prince could do.

The spastic movie dialouge, the constant gear changes, bits of other songs thrown in, random guitar solo, weird noises and voices. It sounds like the work of a mad genius, which is then reenforced by the video concept which shows Prince struggling with his "2 sides" and also the scene where he's surrounded by a bank of synths, a turn table, and his guitar, letting everyone know he did all that shit by himself. Pretty cool.
