Album-free years

It's that time again....

There's '83, 2001 (?), 2003, 2006, 2008, 2011

Is that right? I'm sure I mised and confused some...

2001 saw The Rainbow Children, The Very Best Of Prince, and the Rave In2 remix album

2003 had Xpectation, C-NOTE and N.E.W.S.

2006 had 3121

2008 had Indigo Nights

2000 had no album.

2005 had no album.

Thanks. 2006 was definitely a typo for 2005. I guess I don't count Indigo Nights as an album.... but then if we're only including original records we would have to add 1993..., no?

The War was from '97, right? Wouldn't count that, either, tho...

It's amazing how the memory blurs as u get old. I can place just about any event up to say '91 in the right year, but from then on it's all hazy... razz (maybe it's the substances from 18 n over...)

1983, 1997 (technically Crystal Ball came out in 1998), 2000, 2005 and 2011.....maybe he really was a slave for WB's!

No album in 93, but we had the songs Pope, Pink Cashmere and Peach. Also ot was the year of Goldnigga. 1983 probably dosen't count either as he had wrote and recorded most of the Purple Rain material that year. Prince usually had the stuff ready to roll months in advance. Maybe if we says years an album was not released to the general public. What about 1977, he was signed but no album (He was working on 4U and not even signed until June)

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Tremolina

If I'm not mistaken the single lp release of 1999 was in 1983. A rehash but still a release.

1993 had the Hits, including several new songs.

1997 had CB, the Truth and Kamasutra (it was just that most people got their copies in 1998 lol).

2000, 2008 and 2011 do seem completely void of new music.

Well since he never had album-free time period for 2 years consecutively, that must mean we'll have something new this year for sure right?! excited 2012 is going to be awesome

I guess I would only really count the Truth as a new album (KS? Really?).

That means '97's off the hook. I don't think we can let off '93, though. There was a release, but 3 songs doesn't really make it "new". (In the same vein, when were Girl 6, The Vault released?)

Didn't we get Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic (the remix album) in 2000?

Crystal Ball shipping started in january 1998 that included The Truth and Kamasutra (although you could buy that as of early 1997)

The War was recorded in June 1998, and cassettes were sent out in august 1998

Rave In2 was from 2001
