Dangermouse Rick Rubin Nigel Goldrich Beck
Much as I like ?uestlove, I don't think he would push Prince's music in as interesting ways as any of these guys would.

Yikes. I fear those particular new music territories are over Prince's head with good reason.

I agree. | |

Anyone else enjoy Prince's dabbles into non-American styles of music? I'm talking about the arabic intro to Thieves In The Temple during the Diamonds and Pearls live era, the sitar on 7 (although not a real sitar), or Te Amo Corazon with its South American/Spanish influence.
I'd certainly be interested in hearing Prince makes some music after spending sometime around non-American musicians.
What do you think? | |

honestly, I'm getting a little tired of that.

Or he could do Jay-Z style Black Album of sorts. Where he has a different producer for each song. Madonna did it for Hard Candy.
Danger Mouse Eno Rubin Reznor 2uesto etc etc
Those who said Bowie, I choose Eno as he was the producer and collaborator for his seminal 70's works. And tgough I like the other choices people have posted like Rubin, Trent, etc etc , Danger Mouse HAS to have a shot at it as he is the young lion who is really doing the damn thing regarding production etc. Most of these other producers mentioned ned a shot of rejuvenation juice their damn selves as well. Hell, Mouse even named his one release collaboration, dark Night Of The Soul (wink wink nudge nudge).
And Im going to throw Nile Rodgers into the mix.
Though Jay Z's Black Album project idea came when he was still at the apex of his career, I believe everyone would probably jump at the chance to do this project . Even at this late in the game for Prince. Even with Princes 'reputation' as a hardass, ass, and do it DIY ethic. They would probably unerstand the battle in the studio that would ensue but its akin to going to Navy Seal bootcamp. The few, the proud, the ...lol.
I think the results would be astounding. Hell, there's nowhere else to go form here after 30 years but TO let others in and leave the comforts of Paisley....
Prince always stated that he' aint scared of anything'...
oh yeah? let's see you take on this ultimate/final challenge
.

Totally.
It could enrich his musical palet and offer him lots of new inspiration. Step out of his comfort zone, travel the world and do something totally unamerican, like flamenco or tango, rai or afrobeat. Or Asian styles of music. Or...

like a Graceland "Climb in my fur."

Not necessarily. I just hope he will be willing to step outside his comfort zones one day and get all excited about music again.

rdhull said: Those who said Bowie, I choose Eno as he was the producer and collaborator for his seminal 70's works. slight correction. Eno did not produce, he was his collaborator on 3 albums (Low, Heroes and less so on Lodger). So SOME of his seminal 70's work, but even then Bowie and Visconti were the producers.

Who Would You Want to Produce Prince This discussion is by no means meant to get Prince on to the tops of the charts again - nor is it about him become trendy.
It's about us hoping for Prince to record albums that are sonically and lyrically intriguing. Stuff that we can relate to. Stuff that is more than just a glimpse into his world but rather what it means to be alive in our current world. Songs about real things - like divorce, losing a child, being depressed, overcoming it, waning fame, traveling the world, the internet and technology, becoming older, etc. These are the things that I wish Prince would write about.
Let's face it - the guys got a pretty interesting place in that he's been to the top in terms of commercial and critical success, he's traveled the world, seen a lot of places, met a lot of people, been surrounded by a lot cultures, had some extreme triumphs and losses in his personal life, etc.
Songs like Comeback are just delightful to hear. Stuff like that!

And perhaps you (y-o-u) don't get it that after 34 years, quite a few find that notion stale. There are numerous examples of an outside producer bringing new life to an artist's work. An argument can be made that Prince's by the numbers sound of recent years could use the influence of another.

Yep. I can read. Quite well actually and did answer the question so your point is? 비

Basement Jaxx.
They feel like Prince used to feel - an amazing 24-hour global party, with the most unexpected and unexpectedly delightful guests.

Yeah, that's precisely the point: George, Bootsy and don't need a producer 2 sound funky... The whole idea would be 2 do something different A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/
