Never been a fan of this song. Not surprised it wasnt a hit. That high pitch whistle throughout the song has to be one of the most annoying sound affects ever used on a song. My pug barks and runs away whenever the song comes up on the shuffle. Rest of the album is pretty good tho.

I could be wrong here, but isn't Blacksweat his highest charting song on the top one hundred pop songs (billboard) (If memory serves me right around position #50) since 2001. Prince has charted in the top ten on the R & B charts several times over the last decade. Seeing how this is most likely his highest chart position in the last decade song wise that makes it a hit.

#60 on the Hot 100 - however, it debuted at #1 on the Hot 100 Singles Sales Chart.

Apparently the song wasn't as much of a hit as the numbers make it sound, though. Wiki alledges that the song dropped off the charts after 1 week, recieved little airplay and only sold well because of a special iTunes promotion.

it's a GREAT club jam

but not a great pop single. When people talk about "hits", they're talking about the "mainstream"
