I guess, but I can see your post starting another one of those arguments about who's better.

Also, do you happen to have a translation for the article you posted?

^ It's not an article, but a 26 page magazine from 1985,

it's mostly pics, I don't have a translation, sorry.

to watch the scans:

if the link is not working, try search in the goggle bar right upper corner here:

"Prince den nye konge". All 26 scans are still here at the Org.. smile

This year marks the 30th year we've been biting the purple rock called 1999. If u want to you all can take a stroll down memory lane too your most fond memories of this era. Whatever you can think this is your time to celebrate. (even though it wasn't released until November) Body don't wanna quit!!

It's not my favorite album, but I still love a lot of the songs. I wish "Irresistible Bitch" and "How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore?" would've been included. They're two of my all time favorite Prince songs.

My favorite songs from 1999 are: All The Critics Love U In New York - Lady Cab Driver - Little Red Corvette - D.M.S.R. -- in that order.

Not a big fan of: 1999, Something In The Water, International Lover -- they're not bad, but they're some of my least favorite 'classic era' songs.

I could probably translate it myself, but I'd have to type it all out on my computer, then run it through a translator program. It's not really worth it, though.

no believe me, it is not worth it, since this is so old, the magazine.

It really doesn't tell anything "new" or interesting.

But those pics are very good imo.

Too bad I don't have that poster, original included.

^ yes!

I agree, "How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore" is a fave!! it was included on the cassette tape only. On the 1983 release, the one only including the half of the songs. I remember buying this cassette tape for this song only, I just had to have everything by Prince - back then.

I didn't know it was on the cassette. I have a cassette player, so I might look for a copy. It's probably hard to find that particular cassette, though.

This is a picture I found on another thread:

Is this the version you're talking about?

Too bad it's missing my favorite song ('Critics'). Maybe I won't get it.

Why does it say 2 extra tracks not available on the album?

I admit it's been a while since I listened to the album - a crime I will set right this w/end. The whole thing is a masterpiece, but sides 2,3 and 4 are just a mind-bending experience and still delight, surprise, shock and make one stand back in awe of it.

Very visual for me, does that make sense? I get a really strong sense of visuals and a cohesive universe to this world Prince potrays on the album through the music. It's an adventure, quite dream-like. I feel very cloistered when I listen to 1999, headphones and me, and I don't want anyone else to intrude - if it's a party album, I want to be the only host and the only guest!

I friggin HATE the 1999 album.

whoa, why? I'm honestly curious and not out to change your mind on it

The songs all meander too long and are for the most part, unimaginative. Its a record just full of prolonged vulgarity dressed up as supposed art for shock value. The writing is also very lazy and the computer tricks a yawn. Kraftywerk did it first and much better. Those drum patterns..wack. The whole package and design..gtfoohwtbs! Those crazy assed costumes, his ass on a pillow, and that band looking like a buncha halloween rejects!

How could any self respecting fan like the 1999 album? They suck if they do!

Now that has all of a sudden made me feel very old thumbs up! lol

YOU feel old? I first got this album on a stinkin' 8-Track cartridge. On it I think "1999" & "DMSR" were the first two songs, and if i recall "Lady Cab Driver" was split between two tracks with a fade out... BTW apologies to the 30 & Under crowd -- this probably sounds like gibberish biggrin
