indigo Nights Let's discuss it since it's one of the few cd's I have left I think it's a good effort. The band sounds nice on it All The Critics was done well on here and Misty Blue is beautiful. So it was worth getting 21 Nights just for the cd? What do you say? Yay or Nay for Indigo Nights. | |

I love it, and you get a whole book of pictures, genious. He should release more live stuff - he must have heaps recorded. | |

For those who do not have any other recordings from The Indigo, or who do not have any bootlegs at all, this cd must be a god send. As for the hotel brochure book, that's another thread entirely.

the book is okay. It is really huuuge, much bigger than I expected.
the cd is absolutely terrible,
those horns oh nooo, ruins the concert. Good, if you like circus muzik. Not really funky. It just doesn't work.
Imagine THIS setlist instead,
Indigo Nights:
if Prince had chosen the rock aftershow 28.aug - and added a few others:
+ 28. aug. 2007 * 21. sep. 2007
maybe, also including:
---> actually this is somehow what my iTunes playlist looks like..

I remember going out and buying it. It was exciting because it was something to hold us over before the new album (a great album at that) was released. Book - Yay CD - Yay Down with haters. | |

the entire effort was an enormous waste of paper and plastic | |

really. the book is awful. the photographs aren't even that good or interesting. the cd features a lame line-up of songs played by a mostly lame line-up of musicians and background singers. | |

It sounds more generic than any other live release (audio or video) but I think that's what he wanted: a live record that could be enjoyed by people who don't know much about funk but get hysterical every time they hear an Aretha Flanklin or a James Brown track. Try to play it while having a dinner with friends: you'll be surprised how positive the reaction'll be. All in all I like it, there are really cool moments on it. My least favorite release ever after 1999 the new master. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment | |

I gotta listen to this again--haven't heard it in a long time. I much prefer the CD to the book, which I thought would habe some concert photos, not shots of a maid standing in long hallways. We do 21 nights. Real nights, not shows. We have a dozen or so aftershows with mr P present. Each aftershow being an hour or more of music. So we release a single CD of cut-up takes from whatever shows and think that it's all good...
Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry. | |

Hi gerhard, "the cd is absolutely terrible"
^ this is just my honest opinion, -- and I don't like the aftershow/ the 3rd disc to One Nite Alone... Live either. Joy In Rep is absolutely fantastic on this CD.. but but but.... the rest of that live-cd is quite awful also.
There is a fantastic mood / spirit at every Prince concert when you are there as a "witness", seeing and hearing everything live, but this "spirit" isn't always transferred to a CD.
Like Kewlschool wrote "Indigo Nights" is also 1 of my least fave Prince cd's, I just can't appreciate this recording. "it is terrible"..
I ain't drunk believe me, haha: I have diabetes, therefor I never drink alchohol, and if you think I am nuts, ok then..
I prefer to listen to the 28 august 2007 "rock" aftershow, - bootleg of course - since Prince chose differently/ did not release this.
