it's for all the people who are alone, grieving, who feel alienated from the festivities, so it's definitely about xmas. it's a very touching song that many people can relate to.

What a stupid ass thread! Another Lonely Christmas is an xmas song and it is just as robert said for the folks that are lonely or feel alienated on xmas. It is a brillant, sad take on christmas and many people do feel that way around that time of year. For The Tears In Your Eyes is an xmas song also as it was included to help Africa in the USA for Africa project and if my memory is correct it was released around that time, but I may be off by a couple of weeks.

Almost being the operative word, and wrong being a more appropriate one, because inosofar as scientific method can be applied to the celebration of the birth of the alleged son of an unprovable deity, then we should take the facts (such as they are) into account.

And the facts are that the celebration known as Christmas lasts from the 25th December (when the alleged Jesus was allegedly born) until 6th January, when the alleged 3 wise men turned up to pay their respects.

So what errant is referring to as the day after Christmas is still actually Christmas.

And even if it weren't, correct me if I'm wrong here, but doesn't the lyric go

"Then you died on the 25th day of December"

How is that after Christmas?

And I wonder what country is it where Christmas music is no longer played after Christmas day? Because I want to move there. They play Christmas music here from about the end of October until the end of January, and I really, really wish they wouldn't.

So therefore, finally, Another Lonely Christmas does count as a Christmas song.

Bah humbug.

wow, what a stretch

How does "Another Lonely Christmas" not count?

it doesn't apply until the day after Christmas, at which Christmas music is no longer played.

where do you live?

Christmas music is played up till New Years

the Cable channel 682 is still playing Christmas music

here WARM 101.3 is playing christmas music till New Years

NorthCoast 105.9 jazz is playing Christmas music

It's still officially christmas season/holiday up till New Years Eve, that's why people traditionally leave their christmas decorations up, and then take them down on New Years day

I love christmas music but like you don't like a lot of the 'updated' stuff, love the old originals and stuff that is recent but keeps in line with that old feel.

love most Jazz Christmas music

Flimsy excuses?

Correct me if I'm misinterpreting here, but your reasoning that it is not a Christmas song is that it doesn't apply until after Christmas, and that Christmas music isn't played after Christmas? Correct?

Firstly, you need to check the lyrics - the song quite clearly applies to Christmas Day.

Secondly, Christmas music is played after Christmas.

Thirdly, because it is a Christian festival we're talking about, and you specified 'after Christmas' I pointed out that Christmas is not just one day, and therefore 'after Christmas' could be interpreted as being any time after 6th January.

Fourthly, I subsequently made it clear that it is the lyrical content (not to mention the name) of the song that leads most of us to conclude that it is a Christmas song.

I hope this makes it abundantly clear that I reject your flimsy reasoning that it is not a Christmas song.

Fifthly, and finally, my question was directed towards OnlyNDaUsa, there is no requirement to reiterate your flawed logic on their behalf.

My explanation that a Christmas song with the word Christmas in its title and written about Christmas is considered by any reasonble person to actually be a Christmas song doesn't apply in the real world?

Ok.

At this point I can only assume that you're just taking the piss.

In any event, it was fun while I had time to waste, but I think I've wasted enough now.

I don't get your 'exactly' point, it's talking about Christmas. Exactly

there is Christmas Day but the 'holiday season' is 12 Days of Christmas extending till January 6th ie feast of the Epiphany, or Feast of the 3 Kings. Latin American and Catholic groups celebrate till this date. I attended a Puerto Rican celebration a few years ago that was surround by this event, where they sang old and new songs 2 traditional instruments with food drink and traditional dancing. Called Parranda

Traditionally most Americans that celebrate view Christmas Eve-New Years Eve as the Christmas / Holiday season. That's why a lot of people leave their decorations up till Dec 31st

People have holiday parties leading up to Christmas and following because it's the Christmas season.

That's definately how we celebrated, Christmas lights/tree stayed on from Christmas Eve till the day after Christmas all night long. My parents(moms family tradition) would put a box out for each of my brothers with fruit nuts and candy. We had Christmas breakfast where chocolate jelly and raisin cakes were allowed to be eaten right along with any meal. the 1 week we could pig out on junk food anytime. Classic christmas music, take a nap right under the tree etc etc

My parents set the bar high. Each of us into our adult hood continue a lot of those tradations and add our own.

Logically it is a Christmas song, just like Eartha Kitts Santa Baby, George Michaels Last Christmas -contemporary christmas songs

And on the soul station:Prince & the Revolution's Another Lonely Christmas was played throught the day

maybe that's why some of them leave certain lights up all year round lol

Christmas Day is the 25th but as I've shown duh that the CHristmas holiday is more than that.

That's 1 reason there is a classic songs called the 12 Days of Christmas,

I posted info that explains further that there is more than just that 1 day,

Anyone do a little history study while see that many cultures that celebrate it, do it as an extended holiday. The Feast of Epiphany is Catholic, just because you didn't celebrate it... an Italian-American woman I work with celebrates till the 6th of Jan

Another Lonely Christmas is christmas song

Christmas season extends till Dec 31st and in other cases Jan 6th

If it doesn't matter then...

it doesn't apply until the day after Christmas, at which Christmas music is no longer played...

Christmas season extends till Dec 31st and in other cases Jan 6th

it doesn't apply until the day after Christmas, at which Christmas music is no longer played...

Wrong again lol
