ima settle this right now .. prince does not want superstardom .. he is in fact eccentric .. he is not like lady gaga .. dressin all up for the attention .. he probably does not own jeans or normal t shirts .. he is not trying to get any more attention .. he just is that way .. in the mean time .. he is also a musician .. and probably has people around him who tell him to try this or that .. so he does out of boredom .. and we get the music we get as a result .. its fair to say that we will never get a good song out of prince again until he is dirt broke and really needs it .. but its also fair to say .. he is not looking for a hit .. he likes being less popular than he was before .. he prefers the freedom of putting out whatever music he is into at the time and not having to hire a body guard .. instead of answering to music execs and working like a dog to sell 15 million records when 300,000 covers his expenses just fine .. i would even venture that he does sabotage his music sometimes .. but that is just a guess .. why else would someone rap on extraloveable? .. and .. why else would he avoid all the normal promotional tools out there for a more underground approach .. popping out in public only long enough to get the attention needed to make the money he needs .. and not much more .. could he be happy being a mostly forgotten and long since relevant musician .. i think so .. he has his fans and they are the group that respect him enough to lay any new experiment down and support it anyway .. he may take that for granted at times or as i said .. it may be sabotage .. i mean its not like prince fans are normal or anything .. they get pretty crazy for prince and he is known for his aversion to large crazy crowds of people .. so your answer is .. he makes it hard for you because he can .. and it keeps his life more sane .. so he doesn't end up like michael

He doesn't need the internet to promote his music, and enjoys exercising control over what he feels is his to do what he wants with it.

I think he just decided to call it a day with trying to promote over the internet because it was getting him nowhere. It didn't bring more fans - live shows do.

I'm sure if there was a way to get the music out there and be able to promote it properly, as well as using the technology as a tool and not be completely dependent on it, we'd have a bunch of new music coming out. A lot of artists are frustrated at the industry right now, and their fans having the ability to get their entire catalog in seconds, that took them years to build.

But in a way, the way things right now, he's comfortable and content with playing live.

If you want to put photos and music up of P, you're going to have to ask for permission.

He could wipe his files and take lighter fluid to the vault - they're his songs, his words, his image. It's his to do what he wants.

But it does bother me when artists get tied up with courtroom stuff and start suing people left and right, sending out C&D letters, when artists get litigious, it's anti-creative and makes the lawyers on retainer rich.

Don't waste your time. Prince is not worth it. Do it for an artist that actually cares about their fans. Prince will just shit on you

...I agree with a previous post: I actually like the fact that he isn't allowing hundreds of sites to pop up. It's completely unnecessary and if he loses fans over something so trivial, oh well.
