Drfunkenberry: L.A. Weekly Names Prince Troubadour Show Concert Of The Year

http://www.drfunkenberry....-the-year/

L.A. Weekly names the Troubadour show concert of the year. At the bottom of the article, the doc includes an audio link of a show that I think is from the Forum run and not the Troubadour show.

It's kind of cool. Hints about new music in 2012 as well. Eh. We will see.

Nice article and photo. In that photo, that's how he came out swinging and opened the concert at MSG in NYC on 2/7/11, with 'LayDown, ' and had the arena standing and in awe of his awesomeness. Nice article.

L.A. Weekly Names Prince’s Troubadour Show Concert Of The Year

Prince Troubadour Promo.

Prince Troubadour Promo. Photo: Unknown

L.A. Weekly has just come out with its best of list for 2011 and Prince is mentioned for number 1 show of the year.

Along with Prince's Forum run, he did 3 shows at the House Of Blues and 2 shows at the Troubadour.

To see What L.A. Weekly had to say about Prince click HERE:

For twenty-one nights, Prince had Los Angeles music fans in a frenzy. The reason was his "21 Nite Stand" tour -- a month long residency at the Forum in Inglewood during which fans could see the icon for as little as $10 a ticket. But even twenty-one shows didn't stop him from setting up a series of additional, secret performances around town. Easily the most talked-about of these was the Purple Genius' second night at the Troubadour in WeHo. For those lucky enough to be inside the intimate space, Prince delivered an epic performance that included extended funk jams and three encores, and lasted until the wee hours. Oh yeah, and there was even a guitar vs. sax battle.

The $10 show was on April 28th at The Forum and was a one time only thing as most shows, the tickets were around $25.00 with no service charge.

Who wouldn't want Prince setting up shop and performing for 21 nights in your town? I was secretly wishing Prince was planning one more show at the Forum for New Years Eve because....well......selfish reasons I suppose.

In honor of Prince being named number 1 concert of the year and his 21 night run, we have a gift for you. The rain came down for 17 + days in L.A. and we are forever grateful to Prince and the NPG for giving us that many shows...and making us lose some weight as we danced for 3+ hours every night. We hope you enjoy this clip as it is funky.

With Prince and the latest NPG band member Andy Allo releasing new songs late in 2011, it looks like that we might be getting some new music from Prince and Andy in 2012.-DocFB

No self respecting paranoia-fuelled tinfoil hat-wearing blowhard of a rock star of Prince's stature could let 2012 pass without an album about it.

Don't get your hopes up too high. This article and everything else indicates his next project will be an Andy Allo cd. Little Girl Andy's Parade?

I love the fact that DFB is playing a audience recording....Prince could of easily given him soundboard quality...but Oh no...not for his fans. Prick...

Furthermore, Renato should be cut from the band.

Rant over.

excited O YES!

I'm always excited to see what Prince has next! I think he is taking some time off to get back into the creative process. Which is fantastic. "Welcome 2..." Has become a very fascinating agenda, and ultimately it opened more doors. Many fans were made! His North Sea Jazz Festival, Hop Farm, Way Our West. Prince has really done so much this past year! This tour was extensive, and I think He will always have some new tricks up his sleeve. I'm anxious to see what's next. Some new program of things!

The NPG have been of very diverse during this tour, notably Andy Allo has really welcomed a more flexible structure to his creativity. I think she should stick around more, but I really hope be brings back SONNY T, and Shelia. E. So many other NPG members who highlight the genius of this man! I am expecting much more to come.

I feel an album will be out soon, and whatever is to come. I am expecting. You never know with Prince, but once thing is certain! THAT MAN IS FUNKY, and creative! He's beginning endlessly!

Why do we need Dr. Funkenberry to tell us what LA Weekly says? Nothing newsworthy was added to their original list.

Sure.

I guess the local Gent, Belgium newspaper will write the same about their local Prince shows.
