"Extraodinary" not an original song??!!! I was listening to the radio today and a song came on by Natalie Cole. it sounded very much like Prince's "Extraodinary" he must have heard this song and been inspired maybe too much!!!! Look up "Insepearable" by Natalie Cole let me know what you think.

I think it's pretty safe to say that he was most probably inspired by this tune, but to call "Extraordinary" an unoriginal song is a bit much in my opinion cuz he has indeed created something new/original.
I mean artists get inspired all the time, Prince is no different.
I gotta admit though, it's my favourite song off the entire "Vault" album! I had to go and listen to it after you created this thread.

Wow - good catch! Very similar! Especially the beginning when she sings Inspearable.
I am sure he was defintly inspired by this song - maybe noodling around on the piano palying this song and came up with Extraordinary which is very original and is a great song!

I did think of Natalie when I first heard it from the first few notes. I love both songs, but I think Extroardinary has more of a jazzy feel. I've heard Inseparable at a lot of weddings. | |

Yes, at first listen not so sure, but then I heard the bit bit from 1:31 onwards, too much to be coincidence, well spotted.... the more you listen to other artists from the past, the more you realise how much he has copied..or taken influences from others..
