Why is he a jerk, doesn't he owe her anything after being divorced for 10-11 years. Who knows what type of relationship they have/had. Cuz she posted it on FB (immature IMO) she knew what type of response she would get from her followers and especially w/o giving all the deets of the relationship (or lack of one). That whole thing of not being able to call him, she put up with it, the benefits at that time outweighed the negative for her. When u were her age would u have let ur husband/boyfriend say don't call me, i'll call u and accept it. Mayte seems very sweet but I don't believe she was as innocent as some fans like to believe. I know she was his wife but in the interviews I've seen and read here, he treated her like his main minion and most precious trophy. I saw her speaking for Prince in an interview and he was sitting right there next to her with a scarf covering his face. She was obviously down w/ his juvenile PR tricks back then. After seeing them on Oprah, reading threads, and the "program" on the Mayte Mayte Mayte thread I think it was fate since I don't believe in coincidence. I think Mayte and her mother had a plan and made it happen. They made a good "looking" couple and Mayte fit the "Princess" role perfectly.

Since were on the subject, I'm wondering if her pregnancy was planned. Prince has a song called Let's Have A Baby but I don't know if this song came before or after hime and Mayte were married. I don't know? The way Prince writes songs he could have written it back in 1978.

I don't know but since you're asking I don't think Prince will ever try again at becoming a father. If you understand the situation about the baby in the past and you're not in any position (no pun intended) to become pregnant by Prince I think you should leave this topic in the past where it belongs. Prince is the only one who can tell you how he feels about it but whether it was fate or coincidence, judging from Mayte's FB post a few months ago, I wouldn't call him a friend.

Yes you can assume they split for a reason..or probably lots of them. Most divorces aren't happy and usually because the two people don't like each other anymore. I'm siding with Prince on this one because he writes better songs than Mayte and also cuz I've got to side with guy and not be a traitor to my own gender.

U have ever right to wonder and think about issue's. I don't care if people are celebs or not. its just human nature... I too always wonder what really went wrong with Prince & Mayte. they seemed so happy and so much in love... They fit together really nicely. He seemed more "real" when he was with her and happy. but even people that are madly in love some times Do fall out of love.. its sad.. but it happens.. and dating a star has to be So hard... They are gone alot and have SO many women throwing theirselves at them. I had read some time ago that they saw each other and some event, or a concert and hugged... so I don't think they "hate" each other... but I don't think they are great Buds either..

I think it would be truely amazing for Prince to be a father, I'd love to see how adorable the baby would be... but I DO think there might be something in Princes gene's that make him not want to try again...

I have been a fan since 1980 and have seen him many MANY times in concert.. I am even in one of his viceo's 2 times. (days of wild) I am a huge fan of his and I love him and his music.. I don't agree with every thing he does/ says.. but I do care about him as a person and a star.. and I like Mayte alot too. She has been super kind to me... :O)

Back in the good old days when Prince did alot of concerts and after shows at paisley park my hubby & I were up in Chanhassen waiting out side for a show to begin..

A body guard came out and let a bunch of people in early (we were 2nd in line, so we went in)

They told us to dance like crazy and they were gonna be taping for a video.. We figured it was one of those video's that show up only in Princes private collection.. but Lo and behold some months later when he did that VH1 special there the video was. You can clearly see me in 2 places.

I was right next to the stage!! :O) I have had alot of brushes with Prince. :O) In 1993 he did 3 shows in chicago. I was there all 3 nights. The 1st night I was in the 3rd row.. I gave prince a stuffed bunny rabbit (cause it was right at Easter time) he took it from me, hugged it, and thanked me. the 2nd night I was in the 5th row and the last night 4th row. Hey thanks for this post. It was really neat to read about your encounters with Prince at the concerts. I am surprised that he gave you a hug. You hear so many stories like Prince fired someone for looking at him backstage etc... so that when you hear a story like yours... it just is evidence that he is super talented... yet can act like a totally decent, regular folk.

HA HA. .no he didn't give ME a hug, he gave the Rabbit a hug.. LOL I would of probably DIED if he hugged me.. LOL me and my husband use to go to all sort of doings in Chanhassen and for like 2 years we saw him alot. In fact we were at Glam Slam one night not long after the video shoot and he walked in right past us and he smiled and said "HEY YOU"... and winked... I think if poeple don't "gush" all over him and just be freindly he is much nicer. we danced with Tony and his girl friend and glam slam (erotic city) one night and me and Tony were hip bumpin.. they were playing some really funky tune and we were all getting into it.. :O) Tony was very nice too.. met him a couple of times.. We use to go to so many shows that we'd be there and prince would come by us when he was on stage and look me straight in the eye and smile.. :O) I think he really does pay attention to his crowd.. :O)

I can agree with this he seemed very smitten with Mayte and she didnt ever really seem to me like she was crazy over Prince....and it prolly did break his heart and he chose to seperate from the hurt and pain of the seperation. Poor P he seemed so happy with her at the time. <3

What is it with people who feel they have to be "friends" with boyfriends or girlfriends who they've broken up with??? I find it sorta weird and insecure to have to hang on to old lovers. Think about it. If had to "like" each other before you fell in love. Unless you have kids together, you should just move on. Why hang around a failed relationship?! And, to me, once the whole sex thing is out there, you can't take that back.

The other side of this is if you're the person who was dumped and you still genuinely love the other person, why would you want to subject yourself to the torture of "the friend zone." I remember when my husband and I were dating. He wanted a break but wanted to be "friends." I told him NO WAY!! I could never be just a friend. You don't have sex with your friends.

Of course I wasn't there...but there were many accounts of what was happening. What was published was that Prince met Mayte via Mayte's mother- she was a young teen girl at the time. Her mother saw how smitten Prince was with her and she asked that he wait before becoming sexually involved with her daugther, Mayte. Prince agreed. Prince and Mayte married in 1996, however, in 1999, he announced he wanted to annull and remarry Mayte because of their new religious beliefs. But they never did..by June 2000, Mayte was now with (or engaged) rocker Tommy Lee. Then in Dec 2001, Prince married Manuela.

Still, during their marriage, Prince proclaimed his love for Mayte openly. He stayed at home to be with her and spent less time in the studio for her and for their deep relationship. Frankly, I don't thik Mayte was ready for it all. When I heard the song, it seemed so incredibly clear to me, who Prince was singing about. It was his own life's observation. Here are the lyrics
