Rich Friends Yay or Nay? I know this song was played on radio some time ago, but I didn't hear it until now. If there was a discussion about it, I missed it. Anyway, I like it! It sounds like the stripped-down Prince of old. Can't make much sense of the lyrics, but I'm used to that from Prince these days. How do ya'll like it? | |

I just listened to it again, after a while, and I really dig it... MUCH more than I did the first time.
The vocals, synth sounds and arrangements, guitar tracks are so well arranged, and sonically cool with me. I like the idea of the minimalist beat... I think I would've boosted both the snare and the handclap.
It's got that 'Batman' era minimalism goin' on. "He's a musician's musician..." |

My all time least favorite Prince song. I hate it, and it gives me a headache just to listen to it. Lyrics are insane, vocals are gross, and the melody/instrumentation is really weak, plus it's five minutes long, which makes it even harder for me to listen to. [Edited 12/27/11 21:35pm] | |

NAY: Rich Friends is almost as terrible af Purple & Gold, Hot Summer, Cause & Effect.
