Who gets Prince's

I was wondering and God forbid if something happens to Prince who gets his stuff , no kids, not close to any of his family that i ever heard . so who collects all the money?

This thread will probably be locked, but just so you know, even if we knew what is in Prince's will (which we don't, at least the vast majority of us), he could change it at any point up until his death. He could leave his property to a charitable foundation, or to his sister, or to Andy Allo, or to the Jehovah's Witnesses, or whoever he wants--and then he could change it all tomorrow. So, in addition to being a morbid subject, it's sort of pointless, particularly given how frequently Prince changes his mind.

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

oh lawd, who the hell knows?

Given that Prince is likely to live another 15 or 16 years, it could be any number of newborns out there who will inheret his fortunes once they turn 16 and are old enough to marry him when that jumping-off time comes forthe poor fella.

This question pops up on here every so often, and I don't think it's inappropriate at all. Even given the likelihood that Prince will live another 15 or so years, even Prince himself has cited his reason for shelving the Black album stating something to the effect of, "...I realized I could die at any moment..."

The question has a certain significance given Prince's tendency to turn his back (and even denounce) parts of his past. Even while being a living legend, he's been a piss-poor curator of his own work (both his official back catalog and vault material), so one can only wonder if he even cares what happens to it after he's gone.

Prince is temperamental enough to leave instructions in his will to have all of his vault material destroyed upon his death. Then again, there's always the chance that he's chosen to bequeath it to someone he trusts and has mapped out detailed and specific instructions for remastering/releasing material posthumously.

Given Prince's sometimes erratic behavior and attitude toward his past work, one can only wonder and hope for the best.

I know I'm deviating from the original money question, but it's all related, in a way.

15 or 16 years?????? omfg That's not very old, and considering his health up to now, I'm

certain it's gonna be a whole lot longer....unless, of course, a train hits him or somethin' neutral

There are two reasons why Prince's tapes are unlikely to be destroyed at his death. First, as a matter of public policy, a court may refuse to allow property to be destroyed if the only reason for the destruction is the fickle whim of a decedent. See here:

http://www.yalelawjournal...evitz3.pdf

Second, it's hard to imagine that anyone close to Prince would actually follow his intstruction and destroy all the tapes. He seems to be hanging around with people now who respect his legacy--hence the emergence of the new "Extra Loveable."

Of course, Prince could have it all destroyed during his lifetime. But he never would, because he isn't stupid and he knows the vault material is his retirement nest egg if he ever needs it.

The greater danger is that the tapes will become unusable over time due to not being properly maintained. But mastering engineers have been able to rescue tapes that have been poorly maintained for decades. For example, Jethro Tull's Aqualung was mastered by Steve Hoffman from tapes that had been sitting in Ian Anderson's garage for decades:

http://www.stevehoffman.t...gazine.htm

So, I don't think there is much to worry about here. It's none of our business who gets to profit from Prince's legacy when he is gone.

Oh, I was just using the figure from the previous post as a point or reference. He may well have another 40 years on him, but then again, none of us is guaranteed tomorrow!

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go spread my sunshine somewhere else. smile

I agree with this. Prince has a potential 40 years left of natural life.

However, this is before you factor in the potential side effects or possibility for mishaps from frequent use of sodium hydroxide. Given the sheer amount Prince must consume in a year, I adjusted his left expectancy accordingly---had he also worn Get Wild or 3121 perfume, I'd give him only 5 years to live.
