December: Christmas is coming, time to bring out Emancipation and TRC...

Emancipation and TRC both give me fond memories of Christmas and snow etc, because they were brought out around that time. They always tend to get me in the seasonal mood!

I love Emancipation, I think this reflected a happy time for Prince before all the later storms...

I would love TRC if it wasn't for the narration, that really puts me off.

Musically I quite like it, but it's not really an album you can play in front of others as it's too divisive.

Still, it's a nice seasonal album, reminds me a bit of an alternative to a carol concert.

Everywhere is a really Christmassy song for me...Last December....Digital Garden...Family Name...could go on..

It'd be great (1000x better) if he released a non narrated version, no segues, just music only then I would be very fond of it...

I know what you are going to say about Prince and Christmas, but remember he celebrated it for 38 years, and I'm not at that age yet (nor do I plan to become a JW!).

I never thought of those two platters as Christmasy in any way.

I have been trying for the last 20 odd years to block the thought of having Elvis and Perry fucking Como rammed in my ears by my mum when I lived at her place. Every tinsel season was the same. Out with the Perry Como and the Elvis Christmas platters.

Bad enough you may think? Well we had her howling over the top of 'em too. That shit can damage a young mind.

For some reason I associate "Scarlet Pussy" with Christmas. Maybe I got the single as a Christmas present that year.

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Ah, let's be honest, friend.

MOST of anything that Prince has ever done can damage a young mind.

Isn't it funny how that works? I always associate the Batman Soundtrack with Christmas for exactly the same reason. And Graffiti Bridge reminds me of spending the week at the beach on Cape Hatteras the summer of 1990.

I don't care/know much about Christmas, but I agree that Emancipation is a very "winter-y" album! I also listen to Purple Rain a lot during autumn and winter. 1999 also sounds even better to me when it's cold outside.

Outtakes such as 17 Days, She's Always In My Hair, Extralovable (not the new version though) and many other from the 1982-84 period also have "cold Minneapolis winter" written all over them.
