This little bit is only one of many shocking Price lyrics:
I wanna fuck U so bad it hurts, it hurts, it hurts
Then he follows that with this:
My girl's gone and she don't care at all
Talking about a contradiction.

How about "Abraham Lincoln was a racist"? Didn't want to post it because I didn't want it to turn into "that" kind of a thread, but that line turned me off to Avalanche - it's a good song, so I listened to it several times, but then I just couldn't take that line. Especially as I've learned more about that era the mid-19th century America. Basically, everyone at that time knew the central issue that came to a head in the Civil War was slavery and whether you believed that some people were people who deserved the same rights upon which the country was founded, or whether you believed god ordained them to be beasts of burden; it's since the Civil War that a myth has developed that people were thinking about other things. Yes, federalism vs. states rights, economics (territory, cheap labor, industrialization, etc.), rural vs. urban, and many other issues were involved, but the contemporaries of the Civil War knew exactly what was on the line, and Lincoln knew his life was on the line. Someone had tried to assassinate President Jackson before and senators had physical fights w/ each other in congress, so it was not inconceivable that the president could be killed, especially during those very heady & tumultuous times. Mobs would break up abolitionist meetings and almost lynch these people - these white abolitionists (the Boston Riot of 1835). A person does put his life on the line, as well as a whole nation's, w/o deep, deep conviction. There's a great article, the best I've read on the Civil War in a long time, written by a black historian, about how the narrative of the War has been hijacked in the time since. http://www.theatlantic.co...-war/8831/

I really don't know what he was "on about" but, powerful and honest didn't make it any less shocking to me. Back in the 80's "play" and "dance" in a Prince song meant the same thing .... fucking.

It's shocking because it's honest. It's easier to shout out a number of agressive cuss words to seem gangsta than to actuall say something with honesty. It's a hell of alot more naked thing to do. My Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/tundrah
