at work today and an older guy asked me if i had watched the bbc documentary on prince the other week...i said yes (of course) ..i am a huge fan and he said he had saw the youtube clip of prince in the ''greatest guitar solo ever'' clip and was blown away by it...he said he had had no idea that prince was that good on the guitar and had a new respect for him and his musical talents...

i believe that youtube can only be a good thing for prince because it is soo widely used now and his talents can be seen by millions of people who would normally never see it...i wish he would give up his fight against this medium and use it for his own good...

I agree with you 100%. I had a friend at work see that same performance and a day later he asked me to make a guitar driven prince mix for him (knowing that i am a huge prince fan). Two days later he told me he torrented downloaded all of his albums and is now wanting to see him live.

I do think he has eased up a little on the whole copyright thing tho. It is a lot easer to find his music on youtube now then it was last year or the years prior

i dont want to jinx it or make prince's goons report back to him that we're geting uppity.. but UMG has a filter set up to sweep any prince videos as soon as theyre uploaded. this sweep would make your video unviewable anywhere, but not anymore..

On my old youtube account before I got banned (3 copyright strikes and ur out), I uploaded Prince's "push" and "acknowledge me". The latter got taken down by NPG records, whilst "push" stayed up. To me, that indicates Prince has no control over WB stuff or any track like "while my guitar gently weeps", in which he does not own. Thats just my experience though.

The NPG has really slacked up on many things. Many of Prince videos are there! Which is excellent, but occasionally one of them will just GO. But many of them are there, and I really think he should utilize the Youtube medium more often. He can only get more views that way, and more people would find out about him and become fans of his.

He should just realize the doors this can open...Just imagine that!

The funny thing is, a lot of people from Prince's camp know that there's lots of his videos on youtube and they still don't get taken down.

I've seen instances where Sheila and Andy Allo have tweeted them and posted them on their Facebook pages.

So, if they're aware of them, Prince is aware of them.

Maybe his stance on youtube has softened somewhat.

UMG has specifically stopped sweeping his videos, like i said above. so yes this is the case

thank god that prince sorta realises that he can gain something from youtube. a lot of people still

have no idea how talented he is.. he can also introduce people to some obscure songs through youtube. laydown got 50 000 views. so thats cool as well..

I feel that they upload a photograph and a video in "betrayal" for him.
