I can transcribe it. There are two solos at the same time, though. One is the distorted solo and there's a clean tone solo underneath it. Which one are you desiring? Perhaps both? Tabbing is no problem. If you want the actual notes and rhythms, that'll take quite a long time. Orgnote me. Perhaps we can work something out. It's not a hard solo, as I recall. I just sounds good.

If I manage to find time (difficult, especially at this time of year!), I'll do it for you.

Have you ever heard "The Muffin Man" by Frank Zappa? Incredibly similar solo section to JIR (not saying Prince ripped it - its a standard chord progression after all). Well worth a listen though, if you're unfamiliar wink

why not just listen to it, learn it by ear note by note, just like Prince learned his favorite solos? Let tabs be dead to you. Learn how to play guitar the real way.

i am training my ears, but i am very new to ear training and at this moment, i am not exactly ready to learn it by ear. Right now i am just trying to recogonize different notes and simple chord progressions.

I am at work (away from my guitar / I'll check tonight) but I believe you can sit in on the F minor pentatonic scale.

Position 1 & 2 starting at the 13th Fret / 6th string.

What seems to work really well is position 2, in particular these notes (NOT in this order. Play with the order and timing):

e------16-----18

B------------------16------18----

G-----------------------------------17

D

A

E

other notes that work (again, no oder implied, these are just the minor pentatonic notes)

e---------------------------------------------------13--16------------------------------------------------16--18

B-----------------------------------------13--16--------------------------------------------------16--18---

G-------------------------------13--15---------------------------------------------------15--17---

D----------------------13--15---------------------------------------------------15--18-----

A------------13--15---------------------------------------------------15--18---------

E---13--16---------------------------------------------------16--18-------

I'll confirm tonight when I get home, but I think this is right. If I'm off, I'm only off a fret position - so play with it.

I actually enjot not having the TAB on this one - it's really fun to improvize over this track. If you have it, add light distortion and at least moderate delay - delay sounds really good over this track.

Enjoy.

Yes. Almost exclusively F pentatonic minor with the raised 6th, (D note) played occasionally on the b string in the shape. It's not really that hard. It's a cool solo. The clean solo has a lot more "D note" involved, or the dorian sound as jazz dorks like to say.
