This era is just SO inspirational!

I love everything about it, it just is free and highly love motivated.

The baggy clothes to me represent the FREEDOM...It just inspires me in so many ways!

Initial tracking took place in Spring-Summer 1982 at Prince's Kiowa Trail Home Studio, along with several other tracks that would re-appear over the next several years. The track was reworked and extended on 16 July, 1986 (the day after Sign O' The Times and Blanche were recorded, and the day before Joy In Repetition, at Sunset Sound, Hollywood, CA, USA. It was included as the the tenth track on the 18 July, 1986 configuration of Dream Factory. When the album developed into the triple-album Crystal Ball, the song was included as the seventh and final track on the second disc on the 30 November, 1986 configuration, which was eventually pared down and became Sign O' The Times.

I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man

It was only last June when her old man ran away
She couldn't stop cryin' cuz she knew he was gone 2 stay
10:35 on a lonely Friday night
She was standin' by the bar ... mmm, she was lookin' alright, yeah
I asked her if she wanted 2 dance
And she said that all she wanted was a good man
And wanted 2 know if I thought I was qualified, yeah

And I said - "Baby, don't waste your time
I know what's on your mind
I may be qualified 4 a one night stand
But I could never take the place of your man"

It hurt me so bad when she told me with tears in her eyes
(Tears in her eyes)
He was all she ever had and now she wanted 2 die
He left her with a baby and another one on the way, yeah
She couldn't stop cryin' cuz she knew he was gone 2 stay, yeah

She asked me if we could be friends
And I said - "Oh honey, baby, that's a dead end
U know and I know that we wouldn't be satisfied, no"

And I said - "Baby, don't waste your time
I know what's on your mind
We wouldn't be satisfied (wouldn't be satisfied) with a one night stand
And I could never take the place of your man"

2 thing I wish for:

To have been alive in this era..and of age to come to his concerts razz

To own Sheila's outfit and wear it down the street (not on halloween night) without beeing looked at like a tramp.

Yes...definetly more important than ending world hunger nod

Yep, had the mini story on that.

People think because they were no longer in the band that Prince & they stopped talking

@OldFriends4Sale: When posting the lyrics to La, La, La, He, He, He, you left out one line: At the *very* end of the song you hear him say "play that back" wink
