What Genre of Music Would You Like to See Prince Do??

I'm pretty diverse when it comes to music. I can swing from world to rap to heavy metal on the flip of a dime. From listening to TRC, I see that Prince is really into Jazz now. What other types of music would you like to hear Prince do?

Me, I think he could tear up heavy metal if he tried. I sometimes wonder if he hadn't been boxed into the pop genre if that's the direction he would have gone in.

Hmmm...somehow I just can't see Prince doing any type of rap. Let's see...I could see him doing some type of ambient/club/dance type stuff, or even something "new-agish", but not as sleepy.

I wouldn't call it a genre per se but I'd like to see him try his hand at film scoring as opposed to contributing a few songs to a movie (Batman). Hmmm..has he already done this? I want to say "Under the Cherry Moon" but I'm not sure.

judging from some of the string arrangements he's used, it would be interesting to see him really get involved in a classical style. And I do hope he continues on this jazzy vibe he's on...maybe get a bit more caught up in it and do some SERIOUS experimentation!

At the soundchecks last year he performed something people called Twisted or Two Heads Are Better Than One - whatever it was, it was a fun '40s-style swing number. I'd like to see him explore this style more. Maybe not a whole album, and certainly not covers, but songs like the original Old Friends 4 Sale.

And African / South American music, like Paul Simon has experimented with.

Every time I see Stomp I wish Prince would record some kick-butt music with a Stomp troup. The sounds are amazing...

Pure Pop. Take on the boy bands.

Otherwise, I'd love an orchestral vocal album.

I think when Prince sets out to record an album in a particular "style" it kind of stifles his creativity.

Songs like "The Tide is High" were so damn cool because they just started layering all kinds of different sounds. Prince likewise has done that with tracks like Pink Cashmere (orchestra, r&b, rock guitar, and even a little folk sounding guitar, all in one song).

Now if he did a concept album along the lines of Tool's Aenima, I would faint smile smile smile
