what about thought "When the past becomes future and time becomes a dream"? time really is something that is in the lower worlds. it's like the kal niranjan imposes time on those that want to believe in the dream of time.

Prince changed from "May U Live 2 see the Dawn" to "Welcome to the dawn" during the 90s! Many have speculated that he was into "The Hermetic Order of The Golden Dawn" back then. Looong before his JW phase.

Yourself posted the cover of the Controversy magazine over in your "Lovesymbol 1992-1994" thread. Thats about the same era. Now have a closer look at the symbology of the pictures you have posted! Especially the pillars, the small globe at the bottom right, the pyramid in the back, the overall egyptian theme, the saber and all the other stuff... This was also around the time when Prince started doing songs about "alchemy" and changed his name into an alchemical "symbol".

Now click on the link that i provided. If you cant see the connection (especially in conjunction with the pictures you have posted on your "Come 1993-1995" thread and the whole "died and resurrected under another name"-theme from that era) then i just cant help you!!!

The Dawn thing is like a dragged out Camille - In terms of use of the idea.

Like Camille went through several stages, ideas and projects. So did "the dawn".

Originally the phrase "May U Live 2 See The Dawn" is part of Prince's 1981-1987 canon of apocalyptic party mythos that runs through songs from Controversy, 1999, PR, SOTT etc. Through this time there is The Dawn musical from 1986 that doesn't seem to get far, which incudes later suggestions of the use of the name for a similar purpose from the very late 80s. The 1986 Dawn was a battle of the bands idea that seems to have been absorbed into the final version of Graffiti Bridge, which itself saw a similar multi-phase progression from the original idea to the final product.

Later Prince re-uses the phrase 'the Dawn' in a New Testament/Old Testament type reworking and prophesying of future events when he was batting Warners, and flipped the phrase around in a wonderfully delicious egocentric pun of "Welcome 2 The Dawn". As if was the 'second coming of Prince', foretold in earlier "scripture".

Then once Prince is out of his WB contract, there is some brief mention of The Dawn as a follow-up set to Emancipation. Nothing comes of it except the acoustic version of 'Welcome 2 The Dawn' that preceeds The Truth - which could mean either the non-acoustic version was scheduled for the Dawn project, or that it itself evolved into The Truth album.

The Dawn has meant different things at different points - basically whatever Prince has felt like it meant when he felt like using it - but the roots are in his penchant for apocalyptic biblical gobbledygook and rebirth imagery.

Anyway, coming to this thread and reading a litany of [SNIP] is really shocking to me. It's like the Luv4U School of Bad Modding. When in doubt, snip it out.

I like you, always have. And I am sure the transition is strange cuz its a strange environment. But take an example from official forums with paid moderators. They give a few warnings, maybe not even a few, and then lock the thread down. None of this rampant snipping and editing of posts. You guys can delete/hide AND lock threads without all the conflict.

The dawn, as I've heard it from Prince and interpreted it, is just the realization of God. The second coming of Christ. The meaning clearly changed for him at some point... Around the time he changed his name to a symbol. Then, the dawn was here. The new spiritual revolution. A new way of thinking. Clarity 'dawned' on him at the time and, thus, the dawn was here.

The meaning of "the dawn" as it stands has been described in the track "Welcome 2 the Dawn"... For instance:

"When the truth of God

Is the only thing in life

That will reveal

Welcome, welcome 2 the dawn"

Or whatever. Clearly, the Dawn is a state of mind now as opposed to an actual event.
