Your joking right? Prince's dark masterpiece is nowhere near as weak as the other two

what a racialist thread, missing out the black album by jay z. which is an album actually called the black album, unlike the prince and metallica albums

Great album. Along with Reasonable Doubt, Jay-Z's masterpiece.

The Spinal Tap album isn't actually called the black album either.

me too .. only because prince never wrote a song geniusly titled 'smell the glove' .. spinal tap beat prince to it, so they win! spinal tap were singing about big bottoms long before prince liked em fat and liked em proud .. soundgarden, featuring chris cornell (who can give prince a run for his money in the vocal category) covered 'big bottom' but never covered 'gett off' ... we have a clear winner

i vote for The Damned's Black Album, which is actually called the black album, but is far better than jay z

neat neat neat .. love the damned

but since prince record was not actually called the black album .. but rather it was completely unnamed and unlabeled perhaps we should consider led zeppelin 4 in the same category .. it's not a black album but it was released with no band name or nuthin just like prince .. and it would totally win

I like P's Black Album, but also think (because of how cleverly it was released mostly) that it's totally romanticized and overrated. It is far from a masterpiece...IMO.

you obviously know fuck all about spinal tap, as they didn't write a song called that either

(not to mention the album being fictional from a movie, and not existing in real life)

according to this discography they did.

http://tap-albums.s5.com/lp-glove.html

smell the glove, released in 1982, includes the songs hell hole & smell the glove.

i think the question is are you just a fan of the mockumentary called this is spinal tap or are you a fan of the real band that never existed and has released a multitude of albums since 1967? michael mckean, christopher guest & harry shearer never wrote a song called smell the glove, but spinal tap did.

spinal tap were a real band who played glastonbury and wembley arena, but they have no song called smell the glove

smell the glove was the name of the fictional album, but not the name of any written spinal tap song, real or fictional, it was just the album title, just like abbey road is an album title, but there was no beatles song called abbey road

EVERYBODY should know this. it's like the first lesson in rock school

wow...you used an album title with no song of that name as an example so all album titles must be that way. fictional or not, wheres your proof there isnt a song called smell the golve on the album smell the glove? every discography ive seen online of spinal tap says there is a song of that name on the album of that name. and yes....i will argue this point about a make believe band..... so there booty!

Yep. It's argueably the album that started everyone collecting Prince bootlegs back in the day. To own a copy meant you had something that other mere mortals only read about in Rolling Stone.

well as it doesn't exist there is no proof. if it exists as you point out, you shouldn't have any problems posting the lyrics, the credits, and a youtube link of the song, along with any other evidence you have

as the song doesn't exist, you can't do that. you need to go back to bitch school

Um, in all fairness, there's no tracklisting of the album since it is fake. This means anyone can claim anything about it and it be unverifiable.

Not sure why that page has 2 songs listed on it and no other reference I can find has any other mention of actual track names, but still. This circular argument over a fictional band is absurd.

no, you are getting confused between the fictional album "smell the glove" to which there is nothing that supports any claim that there was a title track named "smell the glove", and the real album called "this is spinal tap" that does not have a song called "smell the glove". there never was any song called "smell the glove" in reality, and in the fictional world of the movie there was never any suggestion that there was a song called that either. it was simply the title of a fictional album. so whichever view you take on the matter, the song doesn't and never existed

I'm not confused with anything, i know it doesn't exist as does Brainhammer or the afore mentioned Clam Caravan, the confusion came from someone thought it was a real album. still. Spinal Tap still rock cool
