the vinyl 2-LP, 1st edition had this label: & the new 2011 re-release 2LP on 180 grams heavy weight vinyl,
this includes these cool labels as well.
^
and here, the 1999 LP label smashed to pieces:

The infamous ass-crack album sleeve shot. Yes, I remember it like it was yesterday.... ~Using the Fat Albert emoticon 'cause no one else is...

NICE, I love that, never noticed that usage before

This is my favorite album through and through, from beginning to end. This STILL goes hard.

This release has been replaced with 4DaFunk's First Avenue '82 V.2 as the definitive version of this show. You should check it out.

It's a shame that the two ballads in 1999 aren't as brilliant as the rest of the record. Moonbeam Levels should have been there.

You mean Free & International Lover?
I love Free, He could have put How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore as album cut and International Lover as a Bside
Moonbeam Levels should have been on there too

Yes. I can stand both, but, in my opinion, they aren't as good as the other songs. I think Moonbeam Leves and How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore are way better. And then there are the outtakes. Extralovable is quite good, but I prefer Purple Music... Brilliant!

LOVE Purple Music, that one definately should have been on this album
My favorite live version of Free was at his 1st Ave 6.7.1984 show,

Yeah, I've seen you've started the thread with a quote from it! What I don't like about Free is its epic tone, as if it was a Queen tune [Edited 8/12/11 10:13am]

I remember as a kid (4 years old) that label freaking me out big time! Good music makes me happy.

Whaaaa? I thought you would've been the first one to notice something like that, OF4S!!
It was also ironic because the 1999 album 1,000 times shittin' on C&D, so the image being portrayed on the cover should've actually been reversed!

Never looked to hard at that cd cover

the original 1981 version of Feel U Up definately has that 1999 era sound. I wonder why he didn't include this one. Possibly because he had so many choices Still glad he reworked Irresistable Bitch with Wendy & Lisa
Feel U Up
I been diggin' U 4 such a long time CHORUS:
Tell me what 2 do, U really got me hot
CHORUS
I ain't looking 4 a one night stand
CHORUS
Uh, what's the verdict? I don't like suspense
CHORUS {x2}
I ain't looking 4 a one night stand
[U're welcome] {x2}
(Feel U up) {repeated in BG}
I got a cheap little toy that will make your body move
Come on, now!
[Come here, sit your ass...hey!]
Feel U up! {x2}
Good Lordy Lord! {x2}
CHORUS
I ain't looking 4 a one night stand
Good Lordy Lord!
{segue into "Irresistible Bitch"}

Controversy's sell-out cousin. I love this record sooo much. Love the colors and the vibe.
I do see this album as a continuation of what began on Controversy from the look to the sound, but its execution is just way more grand.

1982 was another year where Prince had a lot of creative output:
