"When I need trombone, my dog is handy" Can someone please explain this to me because I want to give it the benefit of the doubt and belive that it is not what I think it is.

Let's break it down:
tromBONE....
1. He's playing on "bone" relating to "dog", the cliche of dog bones. 2. Also, meaning when he needs trombone, the instrument, his dog, Greg Boyer, is handy.
Sax (Sex)....
1. When he wants Sax, he calls Candy (Dulfer), the saxophone player. 2. Also, an obvious play on words referring to sex with Candy (who doesn't want that?). Prince is always playing up his women. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol.
