and another reason we love prince-he NEVER sold out

Never whored his music for a soft drink

Never whord his artistry for a quick buck

and often seemed destined to look at bankruptcy than to to pimp his talent

and that is RARE

A lot of people are probably going to tell you that he sold out with every album he made that sounded mainstream pop (Diamonds and Pearls, Rave, 3121), as they've said that multiple times in the past. "Little Red Corvette" was used in a car commercial, too.

http://www.taylorguitars.com/news/music.html

scroll to very bottom then up a bit

it's also rumoured he wrote the music for the shake and vac advert. a slightly different version was used in the movie graffiti bridge as sung by the time

An ad was made in what was to be believed to be a genuine Volkswagon TV ad, Housequake was used, but it turned out to be a very well made student project that was leaked on the internet.

U Got The Look was used for Channel 4 Tv on an ad for Ugly Betty.

Hey, hey people what you come here for?
Come on everybody, before you vacum the floor.
All the pretty girls shaking what they got.
When you do the shake and vac you put the freshness back more.

Everybody, shake! You gotta shake something. My Lawd.
Shake! You gotta shake something.

Come on pretty baby, now don't be shy.
New liberated girl ask a guy.
We can go hoovering baby, every night.
But you got to shake and vac 'til the early, early light.

Prince did appear in an TV ad for Chevrolet.

It was a clip of Little Red Corvette from the Sign O The Times film.
The idea of the ad was to show that through the years there had been musical innovators, and that Chevy's new car was an innovation.
The ad showed clips of artists through the years in concert, Elton John, Beach Boys and others, and in the last part, 15 seconds of Prince.

This from The Vault.

Coca Cola.

This was filed at the Library Of Congress on Oct 22nd 1992.

It has been assumed that Prince composed a signature theme for the soft drink company, possibly as part of a deal with their sponsorship of the Act II tour of Europe, yet nothing has ever been confirmed. Close associates and band members at the time have no knowledge of Prince writing anything for Coca Cola, so this item remains something of a mystery.

However, the lyrics, as filed at The Library Of Congress, clearly show that the track was intended as a commercial. "Life is exciting, oh yeah, but when you've got the real thing, it's better. Coca Cola, go get some, it's the real thing. Always Coca Cola."

http://www.princevault.co...php/Uh-Huh!

Prince's recording of this track has often led to the mistaken belief that Prince wrote the jingle used in the commercials; in fact it was written by Diet Pepsi creative director Alfred Merrin and jingle writer Peter Cofield, who tried to tailor the catchphrase "the right one" to Ray Charles' delivery and consequently added "baby." Charles' backing singers The Raelettes then added "Uh-huh!" after playing around with other two-syllably alternatives, such as "doo-woo".

he also appeared in an ad in the evening news for the deep sea chippy, with the line "this is what it tastes like when you deep fry"

imo, I don't think Prince has ever sold out. Using your songs in advertisements is not selling out unless you're dead against it. The Batman soundtrack would have been a sellout, if he wasn't such a massive Batman fan.
