Like I said in another thread, this song is one of the perfect showcases of his background vocals, esp at the end.

I used to feel it should've been replaced by one of the b-sides, now I don't anymore.

It's Tamborine. And yep, it's an excellent song.

Short but incredibly funky! I love it!

The part that sounds like trampoline he is saying "troubling". This song was one that had to grow on me. When I first bought the album back in 1985, I really didn't like this track.

He does say "trampoline" at some point in his song, I am convinced of it.

Isn't "Trampoline" one of the words in the ATWIAD lyrics sheet? Or, at the very least, on DTT?

I know he sings both tamborine and trampoline.

"Tamborine" is one of the most overrated Prince tracks, period. That track is pure filler imho.

It makes sense, but I don't consider it a positive thing anymore. Prince has become a big pop whore with no artistic credibility at all.
