Prince's best bass playing is on songs by the Time Listen to Prince's bass licks on first two Time albums. Prince created great bass lines with great sound very funky with a lot of ghost notes. Prince played a lot of nice bass lines on his official records but nothing as good and memorable as the bass lines of Cool, the Stick, the Walk,777-9311,Chocolate,Jerk Out...

Well, yeah.
Doing The Time records allowed him to do more straightforward 80s funk when he was exploring new things under his own name. He did say that he considered the bass line of "777-9311" the best bass line he's ever created when asked about it in an interview (1999 or 2000, I believe).

His bass playing on "Le Grind" is pretty awesome too. I don't see it mentioned much here.

His best bass playing is on Play in the Sunshine IMO.

You can definitely hear Andre's influence in Prince's bass playing on The Time albums. And it was a good thing. __________________________________________________
